Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT, we are seeking an experienced data Product Processing Operations Engineer to support routine operations of the Meteosat Second Generation MSG, Meteosat Transition MTP and EUMETSAT Polar System EPS programmes. The Operations Engineeer will work in the Real time services and System Operations RSO division of the OPS department as a member of the Data Processing Operations DPO team, supporting the operations of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems. The person will also support the operations preparations for future MSG and EPS spacecraft and the preparations for the Meteosat Third Generation programme. Additionally, heshe may support the further development of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems. Responsibilities As a Product Processing Operations Engineer, your tasks will include Support to routine operations involving the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems this includes Monitoring and reporting on the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 products and EPS Level 0 to Level 2 products Investigating anomalies relating to the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 and EPS Level 0 to Level 2 products Development and validation of procedures for operating the product generation facilities Preparing and reviewing technical documentation relating to data processing operations Providing standby callout support Support to the further development of the MSG and EPS data processing systems, including the specification and validation of system updates Support to the preparation of operational monitoring for future MSG and EPS spacecrafts Support for the operations preparation for future programmes, e.g. Meteosat Third Generation MTG and EUMETSAT Polar System 2nd Generation EPS 2G Participation in technical meetings Participation in formal reviews This is a fulltime position located at EUMETSATs premises in Darmstadt, Germany, with an initial contract duration of 2 years, and options to extend. The start date is 1st December 2015. Working time is normal working hours. The position may require standby and callout support. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have a university degree in a relevant discipline. Responsibilities As an Operations Engineer your tasks will typically include Support to the routine operations of Metop A, B and preparing for MetopC, comprising Provision of operational expertise to the Attitude and Orbit Control System in particular, with support to other platform subsystems andor payload instruments andor onboard software management, satellite simulator and ground segment operations interfaces Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary Investigations into satellite anomalies.
