Telespazio VEGA has been the leading contractor on this Frame Contract to ESOC for over 30 years, currently providing a Service Team of over 80 qualified engineers and scientists. This frame contract providing support to ESOCs Operations Engineering division supports all ESAs mission, whether Earth Observation, Astronomical or Interplanetary from both the Satellite and Ground Segment perspective. To further develop its engineering activities in ESOC Telespazio VEGA is looking for several engineers who are interested to get presented in ESOC and are qualified for the following position TTC Spacecraft Operations Engineers MF RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES The primary areas of responsibility for this service are the TTC subsystem, but the service provider may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general Satellite Operations Engineer SOE services, including test, validation and operation of the Mission Control System, Mission Planning System and Simulator. The general activities to be supported by the service are depending on the phase of the mission Study of Project specific Characteristics and Ground Segment Documentation Preparation of Functional Requirements for the Project dedicated Flight Control Software Participation in the Analysis and Design of Satellite Operations Preparation of Functional Requirements for the Project dedicated Flight Control Ground Facilities Preparation of Flight Control and Contingency Procedures Mission Management and Mission Planning Support OnBoard Software Maintenance Support Production of Project specific Software Validation and Satellite Interface Validation Test SVT Procedures, Reports and Participation in SVTs Participation in the System Operations Validation Test SOV, Training and Simulation Programmes Participation in Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP and Mission Critical Operations General Flight Control Support Spacecraft Performance Analysis QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE A degree qualified engineer to join the existing Telespazio VEGA Service Team at ESOC ESSENTIAL SKILLS Spacecraft subsystem knowledge, specifically TTC Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Coordination and interaction with other service providers in operations and other fields. Ability to work independently DESIRABLE SKILLS Familiarity with the ESOC environment Experience with OnBoard Software Management Experience in the generation of nominal contingency procedures Good general understanding of satellite Payload and Platform elements Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 Some experience dealing with external interfaces Familiarity with operational simulators, especially those based on SimSat Familiarity with Astronomical Fundamental Physics, Interplanetary of Earth Observation satellites The ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously. We are looking to further enhance our team by Data Centre Operations Engineer You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities. Your Tasks Include The key person shall support the Data Centre Operations team and will report to the Data Centre Operations Engineer. The main tasks of the key person are Provision of support to the daily monitoring of the Data Centre, and analysis and reporting of operational anomalies. Provision of support to the user queries received by the user service helpdesk regarding Data Centre services. Provision of support to the test automation of the Data Centre upgrades. Support to the development of Data Centre tools for monitoring, for reporting and to improve the usability of Data Centre services. Provision of support to prototyping concepts for evolving the Data Centre services to support current and future Client programmes. Provision of support to the coordination of reprocessing activities. Provision of support to metadata content and their specification in Data Centre products. Preparation and maintenance of Data Centre documentation such as operational procedures and service guides for users. Your Profile In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in Software Engineering or a relevant engineering science discipline with a focus on data processing and handling, the key person must have excellent team working skills, being able to work autonomously and have good analytical skills. The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require also very good communication, presentation skills combined with the ability to perform under high workloads. The key person shall have skills and experience in the following mandatory areas minimum 3 years for each Working in an operations environment supporting the analysis of system and user support issues. Experience with working with Earth Observation data, and their visualisation and processing. Experience in designing and developing software components and applications in an operational and web environment. Programming experience in CC, Java languages, UNIX environment, scripting in Shell and Perl. Extensive knowledge for specification, validation and transformation using XMLXSDXLT and their associated tools. Experience of handling and manipulating binary data. Good knowledge of the testing process for a complex hardware and software system. Practical knowledge of the following will be a distinct advantage Experience with Meteorological data formats such as NetCDF, HDF, BUFR, GRIB. Good knowledge of standards, conventions and guidelines for the specification of metadata for Earth Observation data. Experience with using tools such as IDV, McIDASV, IDL, THREDDS. Experience in geospatial data formats such as GeoTiff, McIDAS. Knowledge of the SubVersion source code control systems. Knowledge of Software Development Environments such as the Eclipse. Knowledge of Google Web Toolkit GWT Development and usage experience in Big Data Technologies such as Hadoop.
