The activities performed by the keyperson will be an input for the overall system and ground segment IVV activities. The keyperson will typically be involved in tasks related to the EPSSG or MTG IVV activities with focus on the Data Circulation test. Profile Mandatory skills and relevant experience in University degree in the domain of engineering, physics or equivalent. Proven experience in the verification and validation of large complex systems, with at least 3 years of general experience with onground processing of data from satellite instruments for Earth observation. Handson involvement in data circulation VV activities including generation of test plan, test specification, procedures and test reports for endtoend processing chains. At least 3 years of experience with software specification, design and development and relevant standards. Some experience with definition and development of test tools and generation of test data sets. System requirements management and functionalarchitectural modelling, with support of tools e.g. DOORS. Configuration Control processes and tools. Good skills in higher programming language e.g. C, Fortran, Working with UNIX and Linux operating systems Additional skills and experience considering as an added value Be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision and systematic approach to work, be able to plan the work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks Be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks Ability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation Good skills in higher programming language e.g. C, Fortran, Working with UNIX and Linux operating systems Good communication skills verbal and written and be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. Responsibility The following responsibilities are foreseen not limited to Create and maintain the IVV system data circulation test plan, test specification and test procedures, test tools and test data. Coordinate and supervise the execution of the system data circulation tests this includes coordination with external entities ie. partners and industry as well as EUMETSAT teams e.g. OGS and MME teams, to harmonize tests with simulated and real external interfaces. For all relevant test activities consolidate the test results, generate test reports and perform the necessary analysis. Identification of the suite of test tools and test data required to support VV activities. Contribution to the inhouse development and validation of test tools and their maintenance. Support the acceptance of test tools test data provided by partners such as ESA, CNES, DLR, ie. instrument data simulator and ground processor prototype. Contribution to the preparation and execution of VV tests of endtoend processing chains, such as preparation of test specifications and procedures, test tools and test data. Development of test tool and test data. Participation in relevant internal and external meetings. Regular review of documentation dealing with requirements, system concepts, architecture and design, technical analyses, to identify information of importance for test tools test data. Position Reference 649 We are currently looking for a Data Processing Systems and Applications Engineer to work for our client in the city of Darmstadt, Germany. Hisher duties will involve day to day operations and maintenance, to the handling of anomalies, upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. Moreover, the Data Processing Systems and Applications Engineer will be responsible for the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures. For procurements and maintenance services provided externally, the key person shall provide support to the management of the technical interface with the external contractors, provided that the Contractor is not involved in such procurements. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Maintenance and development of the Data Processing SystemsApplication Software for many of the facilities the first line maintenance is being performed by EUMETSAT in conjunction with the industrial contractor the second line maintenance is being performed by the industrial contractor under supervision and with support from EUMETSAT. Procurement activities for maintenance and evolution activities, such as specification and maintenance of requirements for new or enhanced Data Processing SystemsApplications Software components. Coordinationinputs to planning and preparation of releases. Coordination with other EUMETSAT Teams andor Contractors to prepare introduction of newupgraded components. Generation and maintenance of technical baseline documentation. Contribute to the operations of existing data processing ground segments. Participation in technical meetings and formal reviews. Analysis of the maintenance requirements and identification, procurement or implementation of the tools required to fulfil them. Settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures. Performing routine tasks in operational systems under configuration control such as Anomaly investigations, documentation and classification. Participation in relevant Anomaly Review Boards. Follow up of the delivery of SW resolutions for these anomalies. Contribute to Configuration Management change control practices. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Experience in engineering of large, UNIX or LINUX based, complex, realtime data processing systems, including requirements specification, design, software maintenance or development, formal software testing and system integration. Very good technical writing skills, in particular in the area of formal technical documentation e.g. requirements specification and design documentation, test plans and procedures, maintenance procedures. Source code control systems skills e.g. Subversion, Git. Experience in software anomalies analysis, debugging, profiling, fixing and processing. Very good communication and presentation skills. Team working spirit. Ability to learn and develop new skills and knowledge. Capable and willing to work within a multidisciplinary context in cooperation with other teams. Ability to maintain a systematic approach to work, in order to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. Fluency in English, both written and spoken. The following skills would be highly desirable Operating systems and application software upgrades andor porting to new platforms. Objectoriented software design, implementation, and maintenance, including the use of UMLSysML based tools for supportingdocumenting the design, at least at the architectural level.
