The following technical skills will be valued, although they are not considered as mandatory Experience in the support to the operations and maintenance of Ground Segments, or main components of them Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS Background in data processing or control systems engineering, remote sensing technology or digital signalimagery data processing Initial experience in testing, integrating, verifying andor validating data processing ground systems or equivalent, ideally in a highavailability 247 operational context. Candidates are expected with personal profiles including Readiness to learn Proactiveness High degree of autonomy Good analytical skills Excellent interpersonal skills. The official languages of the client are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the Key Person must be able to work effectively in this language. TASKS Within the System Engineering and Project Division SEP of the Technical and Scientific Support Department TSS, the Ground Segment System Engineer will work in the Ground Segment System Engineering team GSSE, supporting the requirement management, design, development and implementation of the ground segments of the Copernicus missions under the clients responsibility, having a particular emphasis on the continuity of operations and the control of changes and evolutions of the systems. The initial focus of the activities of the Ground Segment System Engineer will be the development of capabilities to reach full engineering professionalism in the area of system engineering of operational ground segments. Once the basic skills and capabilities of the consultant have been developed and exercised, the Ground Segment System Engineer shall support the Sentinel3 Operations with respect to clients S3 Ground Segment maintenance and necessary evolutions. The Key Persons duties will include a range of tasks, including among others Participate in the system engineering processes for managing requirements through the lifecycle of ground segments, using formal methods and tools e.g.DOORS for maintenance, traceability, verification and validation of requirements Support the technical analysis of the architecture and specifications of major upgrades of ground segments, in order to ensure coherence and compatibility with other ongoing developments and identify impacts on baseline technical documentation Contribute to maintaining the reference architecture of the overall the clients ground segment through the assessment of relevant technologies and design options, based on a Model Based Engineering approach Support the definition of the Integration Verification Validation IVV approach and the related tests for evolutions of existing systems and installation of new systems Support the maintenance of a complete and consistent set of system level documentation and drawings. Preparing and providing support to the day to day operation and maintenance of the Copernicus S3 ground segment, including the handling of the anomalies raised during the operation of the system and control of changes. In support to operations, the Key Person may also be required to provide on call support as part of a team of maintenance engineers.

JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities Duties Tasks As a member of the Ground Segment System Engineering Team, the Key person shall contribute to maintain the overall system design documentation of the operational systems. When evolutions of the systems are proposed and implemented, the Key person shall analyse them and verify the system and interfaces coherence. In the role of support to the maintenance and evolution activities ofthe operational programmes, the tasks of the Key person shall include Coordinate the maintenance, for all the operational ground systems, of a complete and consistent set of System Technical Documentation. Perform technical analysis of system architecture and specification evolutions or major upgrades of the operational ground systems, for interfaces coherence and compatibility check with other ongoing developments Define the IV V testing approach for major evolutions of the operational ground systems and contribute to the coordination of the installation, integration and verification of new systems into the Operational infrastructure Contribute to the various OPS TSS Projects and associated reviews, as required, providing System Engineering support during the design phase and contribute actively to the definition of the IV V activities Perform analysis, investigations and resolution of system level anomalies. Support the SEP System Engineer on all related activities as requested Support the OPS regular coordination processes, including CRBs and ARBs, as requested. In the role of support to the development of new GEO and LEO programmes, the tasks of the Key person shall include Participate to the definition of the system architecture and interfaces between the multimission elements and the programme specific elements of the ground system In coordination with the system and interface engineers of the future ground segment, ensure that the definition and documentation of new interfaces are compatible with the methodology used in Operations this include the use of common templates for Interface Control Document and the use of the same tool for maintaining the interfaces data dictionary Provide support to the definition of the IV V approach for the future ground systems Promote the implementation of the TSS working practices regarding system maintainability and evolutions. Qualifications University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Required knowledge Development and maintenance of complex operational ground systems, preferably for remote sensing spacecraft with large reuse of existing generic infrastructure and functional elements System and Interfaces Engineering I AIT experience for the development of major upgrades I new ground systems in a 247 operational environment Interfaces requirements definition, engineering and test, including the generation and maintenance of Interface Control Documents, with support of tools In addition, for the accomplishment of the listed tasks, proven knowledge and experience in the following of at least two of the following areas Satellite monitoring and control systems Data processing Dissemination Archive systems Ground Stations Desirable Knowledge Full development cycle of large systems, from the definition of requirements to system design and testing System requirements management and functionalarchitectural modelling, with support of tools e.g. DOORS System architectural design experience in the use of modelling and design tools in support of it will be considered an advantage e.g. Enterprise Architect Configuration Control processes and tools. Familiarity with the ECSS standards. The Key person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with a minimum of supervision.
