We have a vacancy for a person wishing to join the Avionics and Embedded Systems Team Electronics Engineer for Flight Systems Development MF EESYSAES201708HQ001 The successful candidate will be based in Brussels area, with occasional shortduration travel mainly to the Netherlands. Tasks and Responsibilities The candidate who will join the Systems Department will perform the following tasks Review, assessment and challenging of specific applicable requirements Definition of electronic electrical system architecture, preliminary design and detailed design Technical specification of custom electronics development and customisations Selection of CommercialOffThe Shelf COTS and HiRel electronics boards Flight qualification of COTS electronics boards Tehcnical management of electronics boards development by suppliers Manufacturing, assembly and testing of electronic interfaces and harnesses Assesment of radiation impact on the system Preparation of electrical analysis reports and EMC analysisassessment System reliability, availability, maintainability, and safty assesment Preparation of test procedures and test reports Verification of requirements in Verification Control Document VCD Electronic design, component selection, schematics, electrical simulations, PCB layout design. Qualifications and Experience A Masters or Bachelors degree in an electronics discipline Experience with flight system and payload development Experience with electronics boards manufacturing and assembly Experience with power electronics and control electronics development Experience with flight qualification, verification and testing Experience with ECSS processes for electronics development and verification Experience with rugged and embedded computer systems Experience with payloads for the International Space Station ISS is desirable Expereience with Cubesat electronic design and COTS components is desirable Experience with high speed digital circuit design. The Lab is well established in the field of space hardware, having had a major scientific and hardware involvement in worldleading heliospheric, magnetospheric and planetary physics space missions flown by NASA and ESA. Solar Orbiter is due for launch in October 2018. You will be responsible for finalising and releasing the flight software to be loaded onto the magnetometer in Q1 2018. You must have a degree in computing, electronic engineering, physics or a closely related discipline, or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of research, industrial or commercial experience. Experience of writing code in one or more software languages e.g. C is essential. Experience of writing C code applying a MISRA C or other coding standard, and experience of writing code for RTEMS or another realtime operating system, would be desirable, but is not essential. You will also be expected to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have experience of working effectively as part of a team to ensure technical deadlines are met. Technology Flight Engineer J 2998 Summary An opportunity for an experienced Space Engineer to work for Telespazio VEGA onsite at ESTEC. Objective To support the Technology Coordination Frequency Management Section for future earth observation missions. Responsibilities Duties The Technology Coordination and Frequency Management Section EOPSFT is responsible for two main tasks. First, the identification of technology requirements for future Earth Observation missions. A solid collaboration with the other divisions in the EO directorate and ESAs technical directorate is essential for this work. The nature of the work requires a wide knowledge in engineering disciplines with a natural inclination for learning and understanding new technologies. Second, the analysis and monitoring of the evolution of frequency needs for EO missions, including early concepts and potential interference conflicts with other communication services sharing the spectrum. The duties will include but not limited to The principle tasks in the area of EO Technology Development will include Supporting the identification of the technology requirements for future Earth observations missions Providing support to technology developments for future Earth Observation missions that are conducted in the technology coordination section Supporting missions under preparation through, e.g. participation to reviews, assessment of industrial results, evaluation of proposals in reply to calls Maintaining and improving the Earth Observation technology database Supporting the EO technology observatory function Supporting the interaction with ESAs member states on EO future technologies e.g. through dedicated information days The principle tasks in the area of Frequency Management will include Supporting the preparation of technical studies and analyses related to frequency spectrum management and interference assessment Development and use of software tool based on STK and Matlab, such as RFI simulator, in line with ITU recommendations.
