ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Power Thermal Section of the Satellite Engineering Department is responsible for the satellite power and thermal subsystems across the growing SES fleet of GEO and MEO satellites. In this role, you become part of the US and European based team, that provides engineering and oncall support to the satellite operations control centers, develops tools for inorbit operations, analyzes satellite data, and supports the design, construction, test and deployment of new SES satellites. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULT AREAS Provide electrical Power Thermal expertise to nominal and contingency operations of the satellites, including 247 oncall support as part of the team Proactively monitor the electrical Power Thermal subsystems to identify degraded performance, anticipate scenarios and take appropriate action. Description In this position you will predict aerothermal environments, in ascent and reentry phase, while providing design solutions for MIURA 1 and MIURA 5 launch vehicles protection materials. The job implies occasional travels to Teruel and Huelva. Responsibilities Design activities for vehicle thermal protections system jointly with other engineering disciplines. Analyse proposed configurations to predict resultant unit temperature predictions and qualification environments. Provide support in the development of manufacturing, integration, and test processes and procedures. Building Computational Fluid Dynamic meshes for aerodynamic force and moment predictions including creating geometries, meshing, running simulations, validating, and post processing output information. Analyse launch vehicles external Aerodynamics and optimize launch vehicle geometries from a Thermal and heat transfer perspective. Contribute performing heat transfer and associated aerothermodynamics analysis on various mission phases, including atmospheric reentry scenarios. Required competences BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of industry experience. Experience building models and performing analysis with FLUENT. Experience in Thermal analysis of composite and metallic structures. Experience with coupled fluidstructurethermal interaction calculations. Proficiency with programming languages such as Matlab. Knowledge of CFD best practices.
