Currently, we are looking for a highly skilled Thermal Engineer who will work on the Lagrange mission in Stevenage UK within Airbus UK premises. The engineer will operate within the Prime Thermal Engineering Team. The team comprises thermal architects responsible for design and definition of interfaces with the spacecraft subsystems and payloads and definition of the tests and thermal analysts responsible for the detailed analysis of the spacecraft flight and test campaigns. Specific Tasks Perform MLI subcontract management, THW design support, hardware procurement and schedule updates Support by providing regular schedule and progress inputs and contributing to the spacecraft PDR and CDR documentation sets including RID responses and closure of related actions Actively preserve Project baseline cost and schedule when engaging with subcontractors and equipment suppliers ensuring the customer is aware of any issues arising. Generation of related inputs into the Prime Engineering team for example MICD, TICD, EICD, EIDA, Operational inputs Review of technical documentation from spacecraft subsystems and payload related to the spacecraft Thermal Control System Schedule and risk inputs to the Prime team for the TCS and its associated equipment Generation of technical documentation relating to the design, analysis and testing of the spacecraft Thermal Control System Management of the MLI supplier, including organisation of leadership of progress meetings, design reviews, KIDSKOPS Review of technical solutions proposed by MLI supplier Procurement, receipt and acceptance of remaining THW heaters, thermocouples, thermistors, heat pipes, interface filler, thermal washers Generation of technical documentation relating to the design, analysis and testing of the spacecraft Thermal Control System Interaction with Design Office and AIT regarding installation of THW Provide inputs to the preparation of documents for the spacecraft CDR campaign, including inputs the CDR thermal analysis report, thermal design report. Generation of inputs related to the Prime Engineering team MICD, TICD, EICD, EIDA, Operational inputs. Maintenance of technical budgets related to the spacecraft TCS. Review of technical documentation from spacecraft subsystems and payloads related to the spacecraft Thermal Control System, including Identification of any changes in spacecraft interface that will impact the TCS TCS and THW schedule and risk inputs to the Prime team. The Contractor proposal shall state its major strengths and give details of its achievements in the related fields. Requirements Degree in aerospace engineering or equivalent qualification 7 years of experience in thermal subsystem design, analysis and budget maintenance, especially for nonterrestrial missions Experience with ESA project and familiarity with project documentation Experience in spacecraft subsystems thermal testing Prior experience with space science missions is an asset Experience in subcontractors and supplier interaction and procurement management DEADLINE 21112019

Specific tasks Provide support to the Agency in the field of thermal engineering design, analysis and verification specifically related to thermal control activities Provide support to ESA projects, including CDF activities, interfacing with the project teams, interfacing with the industrial teams, participating in progress meetings and reviews, and providing appropriate feedback on the achieved progress and discussions Support the thermal control activities project support and RD activities of the Section in your area of specialization Build geometrical and thermal models, perform relevant analyses, evaluate critically the results and issue relevant documentation covering all work performed Support the maintenance and upgrading of thermal mathematical models Support thermal verification test campaigns for ongoing ESA projects by performingreviewing test procedures, test predictions and test correlations and attend the tests if required Support ESA project reviews Support European standardization activities Make regular progress reports Provide adequate documentation, covering all the tasks above. Requirements Masters degree in a relevant engineering discipline Very good background and experience in thermal modelling and analysis as well as thermal spacecraft design and verification Good background and knowledge of spacecraft system aspects and experience with the Agencys thermal analysis tools, e.g. ESATANTMS Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
