Context The Engineer, Spacecraft Subsystem Thermal Power is responsible for the inorbit operations and performance monitoring of the Electrical Thermal and Power subsystems of the satellites, as well as support to spacecraft planning, design and procurement. Position based in Luxembourg Betzdorf. Responsibilities Provide Electrical Thermal Power expertise to nominal and contingency operations of the satellites Support spacecraft operations and configuration changes, including generating or reviewing Operational Task Orders, configuration validation and direct supervision over critical spacecraft commanding Develop andor validate nominal and contingency procedures and tools Provide oncall support and react to contingencies for the Electrical Thermal and Power subsystems of the satellites per established escalation procedures Proactively monitor the Electrical ThermalPower subsystems to identify degraded performance, anticipate scenarios and take appropriate action. Develop and maintain tools for evaluating and trending health to maximize satellite safety, availability and longevity, including ThermalPower budgets and satellite capacity predicts Provide support to new satellite procurement activities, inorbit testing, and start of service activities Directly interface with internal and external parties in relation to the responsibilities of the subsystems, including Satellite Manufacturers, planning, insurance and other internal or external requestsreporting Contribute to a continuous effort to more effectively and efficiently manage the satellite inorbit operations, including processes, procedures, monitoring, and Ground Control System improvements Experience Qualifications A Masters Degree in Engineering, with a specialization that includes electricalelectronics engineering is mandatory. Additional specialization in thermal control would be considered an advantage Previous experience or exposure to satellite engineering and operations is an asset Have strong analytical and problemsolving skills Ability to acquire detailed technical information within predefined deadlines and apply it in daytoday situations Have strong computer software skills with proficiency in at least one programming language Ability to react to contingencies and cope with high stress situations Fluency in English, with strong communication skills, both written and oral Team spirit and ability to integrate into an international environment To apply click here

We are currently looking for a Thermal Engineer to support our customer in Germany. Thermal Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities We urgently seek a Thermal Engineer to take responsibility for thermal analyses and design within a small, rapidly growing company located in the Lake Constance district of southern Germany. The Thermal Engineer will work closely with other project team to develop, design and test spaceflight hardware, including mechanisms, solar generators and payload instruments to be integrated onto civil space missions, including MetOp and Jason. This is a permanent position, with good perspective to assume the role of senior systems engineer in the future. Participate to the thermal design, collaborating with systemmechanical engineers Verify that the design is suited to achieve the desired thermal control, in terms of temperature levels and heat fluxes, through modelling and analyses Conduct thermal tests in order to verify model validity and to show that the system achieves specified performance in the simulated inorbit thermal environment Document generation thermal design description, thermal analysis report, technical notes, test reports etc. Interface with costumers and subcontractors Support system level testing, for instance thermal vacuum. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience We envision the successful candidate will have at least 5 years post graduate experience with spacecraft thermal control systems, ideally concentrating on design and analysis of both passive and active control mechanisms Familiarity with the space project lifecycle, especially from the preliminary design review onward The candidate should have solid experience with standard software tools supporting thermal analyses Solid experience with Thermica Systema suite is especially important. The candidate should also be familiarity with the ESATAN software and modelling on the basis of mechanical design CAD file. Fluency in English is mandatory. This job is located in Friedrichshafen.
