LSE Space is looking for experienced Engineers mfd in order to fulfill the duty of Spacecraft Operations Preparation Engineers for our customer EUMETSAT in DarmstadtGermany. For our activities at EUMETSAT, we are currently seeking to employ highly motivated and enthusiastic Spacecraft Operations Preparation Engineer to work in an exciting innovative international environment. We are looking for Senior and Junior Spacecraft Operations Preparation Engineers with experience in the field of System or Spacecraft Operations either during routine or operations preparation of complex space systems. In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in experience in a relevant discipline, the person shall have a wellbalanced and distributed experience in the following Mandatory Skills Experience of Spacecraft Operations and or Operation Preparation preferably on Low Earth Orbit LEO, with responsibility for one or more platform subsystems or instruments during operational validation, LEOP, commissioning or routine operations phases Experience in Satellite Databases. In particular, this shall include experience in the processes involved in developing and validating an operation database from a reference database delivered by the satellite manufacturer, and also experience in the use of scripting and SQL to implement changes and checks as efficiently and reliably as possible. Experience with OBSW maintenance activities, in particular memory image maintenance and Configuration Management CM processes for both ground images and onboard memory management Experience in definition, development and validation of operations for the development of satellite ground segment facilities such as monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, ground stations monitoring. Experience as simulation officer, satellite simulator management, coordination of rehearsals and team readiness assessment for launch. Experience of SCOS2000 mission control systems and use of the APEX operations procedures preparation and execution tool Experience in the full cycle of development of application software for satellite simulators, following formal software engineering processes. This includes system requirement analysis, software requirement engineering, software design and implementation reflecting maintenance activities as well as new applications definition. Experience in satellite performance monitoring and reporting aspects including anomaly analysis and solving in liaison with satellite industry, procedure change control and configuration management processes Experience in requirementsbased design, development and verification process following the ECSS standards and using DOORS. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the team to have experience with some of the following Proven experience in the phases of routine and commissioning. Specification of space system and operational concepts, facility requirements Familiarity with OnBoard Control Procedure concepts Familiarity with the ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard, customisation and usage Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures Data analysis software packages and programmingscripting skills in other coding languages such as Python Java Perl etc. Use of VBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications. Familiarity with ModelBased Systems development applied to Space missions Strong data analysis, processing and synthesis skills are essential and an ability to recognise opportunities for improvements in areas of work and implement appropriate solutions is highly desirable. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key person must be able to work effectively in this. YOUR TASKS The EUMETSAT Technical and Scientific Support Department TSS provides support to the operations of the existing satellite systems and to the development of new programmes. Within the System Engineering and Projects Division SEP of TSS, the candidate will provide Model Based System Engineering MBSE support for SysML modelling with Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect to the Ground Segment System Engineering Competence Area. Support tasks may be assigne in any of the following areas of expertise Maintenance and further development of the generic standard model structure for the EUMETSAT systems, including a description of the various folders, packages, entities, relationships, diagrams and queries and the contexts in which they are used, covering the functional analysis, the functional architecture, the logical implementation, the physical implementation, and the behaviour and data flows Maintenance and further development of the EUMETSAT Domain Specific Language DSL Maintenance and further development of the modelling guideline handbook, using the generic standard model and the DSL and covering The EUMETSAT specific topology of Systems, Space Segments, Sites, Ground Segments and Facilities including MultiMission Elements supporting several systems, The implementation of ground segments in different environments Development, Operations, Validation, The implementation of interfaces between the different elements of the systems and their decomposition to lower levels, The detailed modelling of the data exchanged over these interfaces, including the capability to model Application Data Units conveyed in each data stream, and different configurations of the same data stream type e.g. different FTP connections, The modelling and connection of the organisational structure to the technical systems, The modelling of provided services and their linking to implementing system elements. The potential for generating test data files from the detailed modelling of data streams and related XML Schema Definitions. Contribution to the reengineering of existing EA models to align with the generic standard model structure. Implementation of EA based features, such as specific generators for Documents, Files, Test Data Integration of EA with other engineering tools, e.g. IBM Rational DOORS, Serena Dimensions, the EUMETSAT Anomaly Processing Tool APT, bespoke, the EUMETSAT Document Management Tool DMT, Oracle WebCenterContent. Definition of procedural and technical implementation of the interconnectivity between Enterprise Architect and other system engineering tools like IBM Rational DOORS. Implementation and maintenance of the workflow for the change management of models, including The formulation and modelbased review of change proposals and scenarios variants, The management of obsolescence, The creation of change report documents as a basis for the EUMETSAT process for the approval and documentation of changes. Implementation and maintenance of the workflow for the usage of EA for verification, validation and traceability to requirements, Maintenance and further development of templates and technologies for the generation of documentation from the model. General EA usage support for e.g. user management, versioning and baselining, MDG technology, templates preparation and documentation generation, simulation, EA version migration Contribution to the porting of existing EUMETSAT models to EA. Contribution to the EA customisation by implementation of scripts and custom code modules Contribution to the EA model assessments and feedback sessions Modelling of proposed changes to EUMETSAT systems and updating the baseline EA models to align with those changes. The work shall be carried out either in the EUMETSAT facilities in Darmstadt or the companies office in Darmstadt.
