We are looking for you as Galileo Spacecraft Operations Engineermf Are you looking for a new and interesting activity in one of Europes most outstanding projects in the area of operation of navigation satellites? This could be your field of responsibility Analysis of new requirements and definition of next system upgrades Operational Engineering and Preparation flight procedures, databases Support of spacecraft validation tests Participation to system validation tests and launch campaigns Specialisation on subsystem operations activities Your profile requires A scientific or technical degree or equivalent qualification Experience in the field of satellite or ground control Good English language skills Readiness to take on responsibility and good team and communication skills Permission to work in the European Union. Aufgaben Tasks The objective of the Spacecraft Operations Engineer is the preparation, validation and execution of operations related to the datahandling, TTC and Payload subsystems. A Galileo GCS Design Authority is being recruited by Astrium in Portsmouth. A senior technical design authority is sought for the Galileo Ground Control Segment GCS. This is a key role on a high profile project to design, procure, deploy and verify the ground control segment for the Galileo constellation of satellites. The successful candiate will lead a design team and be fully responsible for the technical baseline. The system has recently entered operations for the first two satellites but ongoing evolutions are anticipated requiring a deep understanding of the technical issues. Key duties include Requirements analysis and flow down Architectural design using formal methods Interface definition Anomaly investigation and design of resolutions Support to technical meetings with customers and suppliers represent the technical team in front of Authorities ESA in order to gain their approval. Minimum 10 years of previous experience of the design of large, complex mission critical systems is essential. A background in satellite flight operations systems is desirable but not essential. Experience of ESA flight operations infrastructure would be advantageous i.e. SCOS2000, SIMSAT etc or equivalent products e.g. EPOCH, L3 InControlNG, Open Centre etc. Ability to manage a team, to provide technical leadership and to deal with customers Experience in similar role in IT complex systems with significant software will be also welcomed.
