Serco Nederland BV is looking for Navigation System Engineer who has worked with Galileo who has a background in GNSS navigation performance and spacecraft system engineering. Overview Radio Navigation system GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO etc. and augmentation EGNOS, WAAS, QZSS etc.. The work includes studies analyses and testing of navigation Systems, segments, elements, technology, dissemination and navigation algorithms, including tools development evaluation of Navigation, Positioning, Timing algorithm and techniques, User, system, segment performance assessment based on software simulators, laboratory and field measurements, and support to ESA projects in follow up of industrial procurements. Radio Navigation equipments covering space applications. The work includes study, design, analysis and testing of navigationpositioningrangingmonitoring technology and receiver for space. Radio Navigation space applications performed at ESA includes scientific applications atmospheric sounding, oceanic observation, formation flying, rendezvous and attitude determination. Radio Navigation equipments for terrestrial applications. The work includes study, design, analysis and testing of navigation receiverstechnology for terrestrial applications and local augmentation. Radio Navigation terrestrial applications performed at ESA are those related with high performance based on high accuracy e.g. geodesy andor high integrity e.g. civil aviation, maritime. Radio Navigation signals and signal processing. The work includes study, design, analysis and testing of signal and signal processing techniques including tools, equipment development and procurement. It encompasses signal structure, modulations, data dissemination, techniques for error correction, synchronisation, multipath mitigation and estimation, interference mitigation, cancellation, encryption, authentication, etc. Radio Navigation Laboratory equipments. The work includes definition procurement design, testing, usage of Radio Navigation equipment in support to Radio Navigation experiments and test campaigns. Specific Task Supervising the development, integration and verification of the IOV and FOC updates of the Time and Geodetic Validation Facility TGVF In charge of the experimentation related to SignalinSpace measurements collected from the Galileo IOV satellites, preparation and execution of all performance validation activities in IOV and FOC which relate to TGVF or make use of its products Follow the development of the necessary means and equipment for the Galileo Performance Centre part of the TGVF in accordance with experimentation objectives Coordinate Galileo Performance Centre operations interacting with operators Coordinate the operations of the Time Validation Facility as regards its contribution to the GMS operations Coordinate the operations of the ODTS Validation Facility as regards its contribution to the GMS operations Coordinate experimentation and validation activities related to TGVF in liaison with engineering staff in the area of timing, ODTS, navigation, sensor station characterisation and UERE budget assessment Interact with Segment Procurement managers to ensure that the TGVF experimentation results are taken into account Support the definition of the definition and preparation of test cases making use of the TGVF validation capabilities during IOV and FOC validation campaigns. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a minimum of an MSc in one of the following Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Physics or Aerospace Engineering and have several years experience with the GNSS and GALILEO systems and equipment together with a good knowledge of Radio Navigation simulation and testing systems. You will be a specialist in your field implementation, maintenance and operation of Navigation simulation and test facilities for spacecraft Specific knowledge in the design and testing of Radio Navigation systems and equipment Knowledge on the design of satellite navigation systems, ranging and positioning techniques, RF, signal processing techniques, and digital navigation receivers. Specialist and several years experience relevant with the GNSS1 and GALILEO systems and equipment and have and good knowledge of Radio Navigation simulation and testing systems. Specialist in the implementation, maintenance and operation of complex Radio Navigation simulation and test facilities for spacecraft, aircraft, maritime and land mobile applications. Essential Background and experience on GNSS navigation performance and spacecraft system engineering. The Spacecraft Controller is responsible, within a small operations team, for the support and operation of Satellites during mid and longterm missions. Working in a control room environment, heshe will monitor and control satellites, execute predefined operations procedures, verify the nominal status of the systems and react to anomalies. After an intensive training period, the service involves rotating shift work in a team, 24h a day, 7 days a week. In addition the Controller will be following regular trainings and simulations outside the shift cycle. Qualifications Experience We are looking for candidates with a relevant university degree or professional ITK education. Essential Skills A strong technically oriented background and proficiency in complex computer systems concepts and usage especially on MS Windows and Linux Real time operations experience, ideally related to satelliteground stations or related networks e.g. inside a Telecom Network Operating Centre NOC Ability to work autonomously according to high level guidelines, in international teams on 247 shifts. You must be eligible to live and work in the EU, as the acquisition of a security clearance is mandatory for this position.
