An experienced Project Manager is required for the Ground Systems Engineering Group within the Earth Observation, Navigation and Science directorate with Astrium. The role is based in Portsmouth but will involve European travel. The role involves leading the design and implementation of a set of major evolutions to the Galileo Ground Control Segment GCS network. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the flight operations infrastructure for a high profile satellite constellation The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers who are designing and implementing significant architectural changes to the current network The role will involve varied tasks including Overall responsibility for the network implementation and deployment schedule Work package management Supporting commercial negotiations with suppliers Reporting to the engineering manager Team leading Supporting and chairing review boards Ensuring formal company processes are applied to networking activities Presentation of progress reports to the customer The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience Educated to Degree Level or equivalent. Ideally possess a recognised Project Management Certification Prince 2 PMP APM etc. Previous experience of successful managing Projects throughout the full project lifecycle. Experience of managing projects that involve elements of design, implementation and deployment into a customer site. The ability to construct, negotiate and manage a schedule involving deployment onto a customer site in a mission critical environment is essential. The ability to plan and drive through a complex set of interrelated activities and to accommodate a rapidly evolving requirements baseline. The project places strong emphasis on formal process including detailed documentation and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience of this type of environment. The ability to assimilate the big picture and liaise technically at all levels is central to this role as is an understanding of the lifecycle of space mission projects and the ability to interface with customers, industrial team partners and subcontractors Very strong interpersonal and organisational skills The role also requires strong customer facing skills. For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for Spacecraft Controllers for Galileo FOC fm at ESOC. Aufgaben Tasks A team of 2 permanent and 2 shorterterm Spacecraft Controllers Spacons in addition to the current Lead Spacon will be required to support the GALILEO FOC LEOP Spacecraft Operations Manager SOM as members of the Flight Control Team FCT during the LEOP preparation and execution phases. The SPACON team will include 1 permanent Spacon to cover launches L3 through L8 from April 2013 to January 2015 1 permanent Spacon to cover launches L3 through L8 from July 2013 to January 2015 2 Spacons required for 4 months for launch L3 from July 2013 to October 2013 2 Spacons required for 4 months for launch L5 from January 2014 to April 2014 The start date and duration for each Spacon position are based on the current global GALILEO FOC schedule. Since the project schedule is still dynamic, start dates may be subject to future changes except the 2April2013 one, which is hereby confirmed and fixed. It is assumed that shortterm Spacons will be available to cover the 4month time slots in a flexible way, such that changes in the launch schedule can be handled in a timely manner. The level of knowledge and training of the nominated Spacons shall be such that a certification 2 month after the start date can be achieved. During these 2 months, the position holders will receive mission specific training organised and coordinated by the existing Lead Spacon. The assignments of the position holders include the following tasks Operate all or part of the mission system, which may incorporate parts of the ground segment as well as the space segment, as specified for the mission. During the prelaunch phase assist in configuring and testing the operational system to support the operations. The Contractor may be required to develop methods or tools to assist in the execution of the operations. Onconsole involvement in MRTs, SCTCsSVTs, simulations and LEOP operations authorised by the SOM, following established rules and procedures. In case of ground or space segment anomaly providing first level contingency recovery support In order to discharge these responsibilities the Contractor is required to become familiar with the mission and the control facilities at his or her disposal. The 6 GALILEO LEOPs are planned to be conducted from ESOC and CNES, with a LEOP every 3 months current baseline. To be noted that dates and Control Centre CC selection for each LEOP summarised in the table below are derived from the current baseline. As the project schedule is still dynamic, changes in the launch calendar or rotation of the CCs ESOCCNES are not excluded. L3 ESOC, Sep2013 L4 CNES, Dec2013 L5 ESOC, Mar2014 L6 CNES, Jun2014 L7 CNES, Sep2014 L8 ESOC, Jan2015 The position holders will be required to support SCTCSVT, Simulations Campaign and LEOP activities conducted from any of the two CCs. This will imply short term normally no more than a week but repeated colocation periods when SCTCs, simulations and LEOPs will be conducted from CNES Toulouse, France.
