The Mission Galileo is Europes future global navigation satellite system, providing a highly accurate global positioning service under civilian control. Galileo launch and early orbit phase operations LEOP will be carried out by a team comprising CNES and ESA engineers. LEOP operations are planned to take place alternately at CNES in Toulouse, France and at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, with the joint team taking part in the LEOPs at each site. Each Galileo launch will comprise a minimum of 2 spacecraft and possibly up to 4. The Challenge We are looking for an experienced Ground Operations Engineer GOE for the Galileo LEOP operations, to be located at our customers site, ESOC in Darmstadt. While the first pair of Galileo satellites had been launched IOV1, the holder of this post will support the upcoming IOV2 LEOP support from CNES and the IOC1 LEOP support from ESOC missions. The responsibilities of the GOE include in particular Developing and managing the Galileo LEOP mission timeline Preparation for Galileo LEOP operations in coordination with the operations managers consulting the operations concept document, interface definitions for the ground elements, scheduling, etc Developing and reviewing of the ground segment procedures Production of the Galileo Launch Folder Providing specialist advice on the ground segment Preparation, management and execution of the various mission test campaigns Identification, recording, investigation and progression of ground segment anomalies during the various tests and operations preparations Preparation for, and participation in, the mission operations simulation campaigns Assistance to the simulations officer to provided specialist ground segment knowledge for the simulations campaigns Participation in the 56 day LEOPs in the role of a Ground Operations Manager, executing applicable procedures. This will involve shift working to provide 24 hour support to the spacecraft Provide Ground Segment Support for activities such as Risk Analysis, Secure Monitoring Procedures, Incident Investigation, etc. Providing any necessary ground segment support to operations in the drift phase of the spacecraft Contribution to the postLEOP reports.
