DESCRIPTION The European GNSS Agency GSA is responsible for the operations and service provision for the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems GNSS EGNOS and Galileo. By developing a new generation of GNSS, Europe is laying the foundation for new hightechnology industry development, leading to job creation and economic growth. Within this context, the Galileo Service Design and Validation Engineer will actively contribute to the fulfilment of the Agencys duties related to the definition and implementation of the Galileo services, evolving from the current Initial Services up to the Galileo Full Operational Capability, and beyond. THE GALILEO SERVICES DEPARTMENT Underpinning these efforts is the Galileo Services department which is in charge of managing the exploitation phases of the Galileo Programme, and in particular will Manage the execution of the Galileo exploitation phase in compliance with the European Commission EC GSA delegation agreements, controlling the associated schedule, costs and risks Analyse, define and implement the Galileo exploitation concept Manage the Galileo infrastructure operations, maintenance, protection, ongoing improvement and evolutions activities, through associated contracts andor working arrangements Manage the standardisation activities associated with the Galileo Programme Manage the operational interfaces and services provision to the Galileo users Liaise with the GSA Market Development Department for the services adoption and continuous improvement of the Galileo use Liaise with the GSA Security Department and Security Accreditation Board for ensuring the accreditation of the Galileo systems and services Hisher main tasks and responsibilities will in principle include Support the maintenance of Galileo Mission Requirements and associated service roadmaps Preparation of Open Service OS, Commercial Service CS and Search and Rescue SAR Service Requirements CS, OS and SAR service definition activities including technical assessments, feasibility analyses and related studies and demonstrations Preparation of OS, CS and SAR Service Definition Document SDD, documenting the Galileo service commitments towards the users Organisation and followup of the service validation campaign before each service declaration milestone, in order to assess whether the delivered service meets the performance expectations as defined in the SDD Coordination of the work of contractors in support of several activities Liaison with Galileo stakeholders European Commission, European Space Agency Support the Galileo Exploitation team for any topics related to Galileo services, mission and system evolution including the Galileo Second Generation, and contributing to any other tasks of the Department, as necessary ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 1. A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma when the normal period of university education is four years or more OR A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma and at least one year of appropriate professional experience when the normal period of university education is three years 2. In addition to the above, appropriate professional experience of at least six years after obtaining the required diploma 3. Be a national of a Member State of the European Union or Norway 4. Be entitled to his or her full rights as citizen 5. Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the applicable laws concerning military service 6. Meet the character requirements for the duties involved 7. Have a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge of another language of the European Union to the extent necessary for the performance of hisher duties 8.
