Xiaomi launches Mi Play smartphone with MVNO in China

(Telecompaper) Xiaomi released its latest smartphone, the Mi Play, in the Chinese mainland for CNY 1,099. Every Mi Play smartphone sold comes with a SIM card that offers a free and unlimited one-year data package, which includes 10GB of LTE data every month. Xiaomi obtained an MVNO commercial licence in China in July after participating in a nationwide MVNO trial programme for three years.

Porto Seguro ends MVNO in Brazil, TIM to acquire customer base

(Telecompaper) Brazilian MVNO Porto Seguro Conecta has announced plans to end its mobile services. The company signed an agreement with TIM to migrate the voice and data customers to the operator, as it had already been using TIM's infrastructure to provide its services. Customers should see no change in service during the transition, the company said in a statement on its website. The operation will be finalized only after clearance by the competition and telecom regulators Cade and Anatel.
