For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for a Data Processing System and Framework Engineer for the Sentinel3 Mission. Sentinel3 is a Low Earth Orbiting mission to support services relating to the marine and global land environment, with capability to serve further atmospheric and cryosphericbased application areas. The objectives of the Sentinel3 mission encompass the commitment to consistent, longterm collection of remotely sensed marine and land data, of uniform quality, for operational ocean state analysis, forecasting and service provision, in the context of the Copernicus Services as set up by the European Commission. Tasks and Responsibilities The Data Processing System engineer Mission Performance, Monitoring and Supporting Applications shall support the Sentinel3 Operations with respect to EUMETSATs Marine Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS maintenance in particular anomaly correction and software release process and necessary evolutions, including the necessary coordination of the data processing systems engineering for the related functions and interfaces with the rest of the Sentinel3 ground segment. The Key Persons duties will include a range of tasks, from preparing and providing the support of the day to day operation and maintenance currently in the preparation phase, the analysis, and testing of the facilities which also includes the handling of anomalies, design of upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. The Key Person will be the focal point when it comes to integrating the individual SW Facilities into a data processing system, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including endtoend testing of the production system. Tasks will also contain the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. This may also entail the participation in the specification and development of specific monitoring tools for S3. In support to operations, the Key Person may also be required to provide on call support as part of a team of maintenance engineers, especially for the S3 commissioning and initial operations phases. Qualifications Requirements The Key Person should have the following background A University degree or equivalent plus minimum 2 years of experience At least 3 years work experience in maintaining and engineering of evolutions of large scale software systems missioninstrument data processing related. Experience in software development lifecycles Software debugging and profiling tools e.g. GDB, DBX, IBM Purify, Valgrind Source code control systems, preferably Subversion and CVS Competence in SW testing, unit test suite maintenance, automated testing, verification and validation. And the following specific technical skills and experience Experience with the programming and usage of IDLIENVI Experience in the use of Python languages and its main scientific libraries numpy, matplotlib Knowledge of Web technologies especially using Python Web framework e.g. Django Use of and application programming of relational database systems in particular ORACLE, INFORMIX, PostgreSQL and MySQL CCJava programming language experience in a UNIXLinux based environment Knowledge of Scripting languages Python, Perl, TclTk, shell Knowledge of web technologies, programming and markup languages e.g. Apache, CGI, JavaScript, XML and related technologies XPATH, SVG, etc..
