AT&T's one-tier WarnerMedia streaming service to cost USD 16-17 per month - report

(Telecompaper) AT&T's WarnerMedia new streaming service may combine HBO, Cinemax, its own TV and movie assets and original content, the Wall Street Journal reported, with sources close to the matter saying the offering could go for USD 16-17 per month. The streaming service is set to launch in beta sometime this year. At the moment, WarnerMedia also offers an HBO Now streaming service, priced at USD 14.99 per month. Cinemax costs up to UP 12.99 per month for cable customers.

Airtel Africa launches IPO in London, seeks to raise USD 750 mln

(Telecompaper) Airtel announced that its unit Airtel Africa plans to raise gross proceeds of USD 750 million through its listing on the main market of the London Stock Exchange. In a statement, the operator confirmed it was going ahead with the listing and would freely float at least 25 percent of shares in Airtel Africa, with a further 15 percent of shares made available under an overallotment option. Airtel Africa is also considering a listing of its shares on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

American Tower to acquire Africa's Eaton Towers for USD 1.85 billion

(Telecompaper) American Tower said it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Eaton Towers, which owns and operates about 5,500 communications sites across five African markets. The company also expects to accelerate new build activity across the region due to expanded relationships with multiple key tenants. The total consideration for the transaction, including the company's assumption of existing Eaton Towers debt, is about USD 1.85 billion.

NXP Semiconductors buys Marvell Wi-Fi, Bluetooth business for USD 1.76 billion

(Telecompaper) NXP Semiconductors is expanding in the wireless market with a deal to take over Marvell's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth businesses. The company agreed to pay USD 1.76 billion cash for the acquisition.
