The EUMETSAT Early Careers Employment Programme ECEP offers opportunity for recent graduates to take that first step into an exciting career in this industry. We are looking for a Junior Ground Station Systems Engineer to support the development and or upgrade of local and remote ground stations. What youll be doing Support the definition, execution and evaluation of tests for upgrades or refurbishment of ground stations Contribute to relevant aspects of ground segment and system integration, verification and validation tests Support the definition and control the implementation of integrated maintenance plans for ground stations Support the definition of requirements and specifications for ground station upgrades or new ground stations Contribute to procurements of new ground stations, upgrades and maintenance and support services, and followup the execution of contracts Support the assembly, integration and testing of new ground stations procured from industry Acquire knowledge on CCSDS standards for ground stations engineering and hands on experience on link budgets engineering and supporting tools. What we offer The initial contract will be under the EUMETSAT Early Career Employee Programme ECEP, for two 2 years with grade A1 on the EUMETSAT salary scale. Subject to successful performance, a further contract of 5 years duration will be awarded in a post graded A2A4. Additional contracts may be awarded thereafter, subject to individual performance and organisational requirements. In addition, the successful candidate will receive Flexible working time including additional flexileave Full medical coverage for employee and family 30 days of annual leave 14.5 days public holidays Training and development support Relocation allowance and support if applicable Requirements Qualifications A University degree in Systems Engineering or equally relevant discipline. Skills and Experience required Strong motivation to develop towards full professionalism in an international environment in the area of Ground Stations System Engineering Readiness to learn expand the own knowledge combined with excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work in a team For this role some of the following would be advantageous Background in system engineering in electronics or telecommunication as much as possible related to ground stations Initial experience in testing, integrating, verifying andor validating systems. We are currently looking for a Ground Station Software and Monitoring and Control Engineer to work in the beautiful city of Darmstadt, Germany. You will support the activities of ground segment developments in the area of Software and Monitoring and Control MC related to the ground stations. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include The follow up of the detailed design, development activities, integration and testing during Phase CD of the future ground segments in the areas of ground stations software and MC systems. The analysis and the implementationtesting of changes, or reengineering that may be required on the basis of user requirements or maintainability issues The testing and validation of new software and databases releases The maintenance of ground stations automated procedures and related databases The remote operation and the maintenance of EUMETSAT Ground Stations in the areas of Monitoring Control Software systems Transfer protocol for the spacecraft telemetry, telecommand and mission data Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision. As a prerequisite, a demonstrated experience in a similar function for at least 4 years. This experience shall include in particular System software engineering in an operational earth observation environment Monitoring Control software application maintenance and configuration Ground Stations Monitoring and Control LinuxWindows operating system TCPIP based communications protocols C and Java programming languages and XML The following skills would be highly desirable Ground stations system and subsystem design and development for TTC, mission specific andor satellite communications ground stations Knowledge of ECSS and CCSDS standards in the area of satellite Telemetry, Telecommanding, ranging SLE Space Link Extension Data Base Applications and related configurations control mechanisms How to Apply Looking to take your career to the next level?
