China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Cotton yarn import prices have been raised in dollar terms in China, however dropping in yuan terms, due to the rise of the Chinese currency. Domestic yarns are less competitive, with imports being therefore potentially boosted. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. All data are available for download.

Cotton Prices on International and Domestic Markets (Weekly Report)

Cotton futures have rebounded at the end of last week, after the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has predicted a slight fall of US cotton areas. Cotton prices had previously shown some weakness on the international market, but also on the Indian domestic market where the rebound of the rupee has curbed export sales. Polyester Chain Prices: PX, PTA, MEG and Fiber Prices (Weekly Report)

MEG prices have begun heavily falling in Asia and could continue dropping in the coming weeks due to long-term structural trends. PTA prices are bottoming out by contrast, in line with a very strong demand from polyester producers in China and a fall of production levels due to a series of maintenance operations. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices.
