Ground Segment System Monitoring Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities As Ground Segment System Monitoring Engineer, you support the development of MTG ground segment and will have the following responsibilities Analysis of the MTG requirements on the MultiMission Elements specifically to Monitoring, Analysis Reporting and contribute to the definition of the design specification for the MultiMission Elements Management of programmes Requirementsrequirement justification and generation of elements requirements Maintenance of GS Facilities to MME Monitoring ICDs Definition of the system architecture and interfaces between the MultiMission Elements specifically Monitoring, Analysis Reporting and the other elements of the MTG ground segment Performing engineering budgets and analyse impacts of changes in the MultiMission Elements on the MTG ground segment architecture and interfaces Contribution to the generation of System Design Documents and Interface Control Documents Support to the definition of the AIV approach for the MultiMission Elements, including the generation of Test Plan and Test Procedures Participation to Programme projects reviews PDR, CDR, etc... Support MultiMission Elements Upgrade for other future programmes Promoting and ensuring the implementation of the maintainability requirements and standards defined by OPS for the future programmes. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in a relevant discipline Several years of experiences in Full development cycle of systems Maintenance of operational ground systems, preferably for remote sensing spacecrafts System EngineeringAIT experience for the development of major upgradesnew ground systems in a 247 operational environment Ground Segment Monitoring and Control systems Analysis and Reporting System architectural design with the support of modelling and design tools Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS Profound knowledge of Satellite Monitoring and Control, nearrealtime data processing, archive systems, nearreal time data dissemination Knowledge of Configuration Control processestools and ECSS standards are an advantage Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. You will maintain and operate monitoring systems for the network and provide an information base containing configurations, reports and procedures. Proven knowledge and handson experience with network management and monitoring techniques and tools Nagios, Netflow, Ntop, SNMP, Syslogng Proven knowledge and handson experience with configuration and use of the following tools cricket, rancid, smokeping, iperf Proven knowledge and handson experience with programmatic interaction with network equipment e.g. mib access using expect or perl scripting Proven knowledge and handson experience with storage of logs or configurations using structured information tools such as Rancid, RRD, MySQL, CVS You have sufficient knowledge of Unix based Operating Systems Redhat, Suse, Aix, Solaris, OpenBSD, Gentoo and Windows Operating Systems to configure and use the tools above You have experience in specifying, planning and preparing network engineering activities, as well as their coordination and technical guidance with other engineers within and outside the team involved in the activities, and with the customersusers and other stakeholders You have the ability to analyse complex systems and to present them in a comprehensible way, with the specific ability to understand relevant details while keeping the focus on the overall system aspects You have demonstrated capability to prepare the documents listed in the tasks above You have experience of working and performing the tasks listed above in 247 highavailability operations environments You have experience in monitoring and supervision of external service provider performance, knowledge of service management and SLAs.
