Ajilon Technology Aerospace is looking for a Materials Mechanics and Processes Engineer E3 for an opportunity at the European Space Agency in the Netherlands Project Support for Metallic Materials and Processes for Spacecraft and Launchers Specific tasks to be performed Act as Project focal point with a materials and processes expert role for defined ESA projects, reporting to the Projects Product Assurance and Safety Managers and coordinating with other domains in the Materials and Components Technology Division Carry out Materials and Processes reviews, Materials and Processes Control Boards MPCBs and participate as PA Board Member in ESA Programme reviews milestones Work on key supply chains impacting Space Product development and manufacturing of ESA main Projects while also actively define means of intervention towards major industrial players Perform laboratory evaluations and assessment of a variety of materials e. g. aluminium, titanium, steel, ceramics, glasses, etc. as well as joining techniques and repair welding, bonding, brazing, etc., printed circuit boards and electronic assembly Support major NonConformances Review Board activities, perform failure analysis using a variety of laboratory tools including acoustic microscopy, optical microscopy, confocal microscopy, XRD, XRay, etc. and drafting of related reports Participate to ESA Audit of key industrial players, representing the materials and processes function. General tasks of the group Support tasks are required to be carried out by the Contractor within certain of the activities covered by the Activity Domain through the provision of specialist personnel as detailed in a nonexhaustive manner below Organizing and controlling the internal and external laboratory work concerning the surface mount verification programmes. The assessment of PCB joining techniques and repair e.g. solder joints, surface mount technology for space application suitability. The assessment of PCB products in the frame of manufacturer evaluation and qualification requirements. Performance of failure and defect investigations as part of the evaluation of materials and processes used for electronic assemblies. General metallurgical assessment related to failure analysis including the assessment of metallic joining techniques and repair welding, bonding, brazing, etc.. Providing expert support to projects and participation in project meetings, reviews and audits for the ESA projects and activities. Use of the various optical, electron microscopy including EDX and mechanical test equipment for the evaluation of materials ranging from small electrical interconnects to structural materials. Assisting with Mandatory Inspections on populated printed circuit boards at suppliers premises on request of projects. Reporting of work in the form of professional technical memoranda, reports and presentations in English. Improving test procedures and ensuring that these are executed correctly. Design and perform nonstandard tests to meet special space project requirements as well as develop in situ analysis techniques. Recording sample properties or condition during and after test, accurately and legibly. Checking on test equipment performance and reporting any anomalies or faults. Supporting the inclusion of results in internal databases. Maintenance of the relevant test equipment. The Contractor shall ensure that the equipment under his responsibility is kept in an operational state and shall ensure that all necessary routine calibration and maintenance activities are carried out. To successfully perform the above mentioned tasks, the following background experience is required Several years of experience in project support activities including material physical and chemical laboratory investigations with particular emphasis on the task descriptions defined above. Familiarity with relevant ECSS standards and general space product assurance requirements and processes. Wessex Garages, which has an outlet on Mercia Road, is calling for the government to create a minimum standard for all UK garage technicians.

Job Title Atmospheric Mission and Flight Mechanics Engineer Post Description DEIMOS is selecting two engineers to be integrated in the Atmospheric Flight Competence Centre AFCC of the Flight Systems Business Unit to support new growth areas in atmospheric mission engineering The work of the AFCC is oriented to Mission Analysis and Flight Mechanics of atmospheric vehicles for Planetary Exploration, Suborbital and Space Transportation Missions and Launchers, satellite disposal, as well as the associated research, innovation and technology development. As a matter of reference, DEIMOS has endorsed European level responsibility in projects addressing Hypersonic and Space Transportation Systems ex CSTS and ARV programme Launchers and ReEntry vehicles ex IXV programme Suborbital systems ex S3 programme Planetary Entry, Descent and Landing probes ex EXOMARS programme Main Duties The following responsibilities are envisioned, to be progressively planned and allocated to the candidate Participation andor lead in atmospheric Mission Engineering activities in programmes. Development of engineering tools to support the Mission Engineering processes Reference trajectory and guidance algorithm design and testing through high fidelity simulation Involvement in Mission Engineering and RD projects involving a team of 35 people Project planning and control Education Aerospaceaeronautics Mc degree or PhD Professional Experience Required Engineer with at least 3 years experience in the practical application of the domains relevant to the post relevant PhD studies would also be considered The position will be tailored to the level of experience and additional industrial experience would be viewed very positively. Technical Requirements The following capabilities are required for the post Solid theoretical background in two or more of the following areas o Atmospheric ascent, sustained flight, reentry and orbital flight mechanics o Optimisation methods for trajectory and systems ex MDO o Aerodynamics ex CFD o Guidance techniques o Handling and Flying Qualities o Simulation design, execution and analysis for atmospheric vehicles Monte Carlo, statistical processing o Flight data processing and analysis Knowledge of planetary entry systems Earth, Mars..., aeronautics systems aircrafts, UAVs... and satellites disposal. Mature knowledge of the MatlabSimulink environment and Cprogramming. Language Skills Good level of English, spoken as well as written Personal Skills Capability to integrate in and work within a team Initiative Autonomy and selfdevelopment Responsibility towards the customer and workmates Team leader if experience above 4 years
