Software PA Product Assurance Support Engineer

For our activities in ESAC, we are currently looking for a Software PA Product Assurance Support Engineer. The position is offered as a fixedterm contract until 31122019 with 20 hours per week. Main responsibilities The successful candidate will support to any or all of the following activities Contribute to the establishing of the programmatic and technical software PA requirements within the framework of the ESA Software policy. Evaluate Contractors plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed for the execution of the SW PA programme. Monitor and evaluate SW PA analyses, reports and technical notes. Participate to project reviews, meetings, Configuration Control Boards, Nonconformance Review Boards and Software Review Boards. Prepare design tradeoffs, analyses and reports using metrics to support project decisions. Participate to software product evaluations and process assessments. Establish and maintain databases to track NCRs, RFWs, action items etc. as required. Specific Tasks Good product assurance requires good configuration control and the customer has several people involved in both areas. The customer doesnt have much mission overlap in configuration control while in QA there is a strong input from TEC forming a sort of cross mission QA support with a small group. The small QA group is usually supported by QA functions provided in the missions usually from the configuration control area. A PAQA support also requires certain tools such as SONAR and possibly specific metrics to be run on continuous build system. There should also be PA Risk Management and Document Management plans at the SCIO level which is referred to in the individual SIPs of the missions. In close liaison with SCIOQ and in collaboration with the projectmission managers the PAQA support includes the following tasks Establish the PA requirements and PA plan relevant to the project in compliance with the ESA SW Engineering and Product Assurance standards. Guide and monitor the implementation of PA requirements by the project in order to ensure their proper implementation. Monitor and control the performanceeffectiveness of the processes used during the development of the software. Maintain PAQA processes and procedures relevant to the project including PA documentation. Participate in inspections and reviews scrums, design, code, documentation of the project and directing the necessary preventive or corrective actions. Define and ensure the correct application of problem reporting procedures. Define, implement and perform a metrication program to manage the development and to assess the quality of the development processes and the products. Implement and perform process assessment and improvement. Perform project audits and assessments specifically for quality and configuration practices. Provide support to SCIOQ in PAQA aspects, such as Participate in project reviews when requested Provide feedback on the projects by monthly report Develop and maintain PA procedures and practices applicable to SCIO Provide feedback and support to SCIOQ in configuration management aspects Spot check configuration management practices on all missions, ensuring the correct application of the configuration management procedures Provide support to the development and maintenance of configuration control procedures and practices applicable to SCIO Feedback on risk management project status, performed by crossreference to the SCIO risk policy, Maintain methods and tools relevant to PAQA activities e.g. Sonar tool, verifying and reporting their correct use by the project. Support test preparation data, HW, procedures, etc., witness testing and problem reports registers. Support TRR and TRBs and the setup and maintenance of the test environment when needed. Support configuration manager in preparing testing and deploying software releases. Support the configuration manager with the development, implementation and maintenance of configuration control procedures. Ensure document management process e.g. releases is in conformance with the Document management plan. Support the Risk management process per mission, including participation in regular risk assessment meetings. Support the selection and implementation of the development environment and verify availability to developers and users on time. Ideal candidate The successful candidate will bring a Masters degree in software engineering or computer science with background on space engineering and minimum of 4 years relevant experience. Additionally, the person requires Relevant professional work experience. Familiarity with space product assurance practices together with a good working knowledge of appropriate working tools. Practical experience in applying ECSS SW standards. Specific Competence Requirements Professional experience on SW engineering and productquality assurance. Experience on ESA software engineering processes and standards is an asset. Experience in tools as JIRA, Sonarq, Confluence, Jenkins, Git, Nexus, Maven is an asset. Experience in the development, operation and maintenance of ESA ground segment facilities and some scientific background is an asset. Knowledge and proven experience in the following areas Configuration management of complex systems. Software engineering and PA in critical applications. Product Assurance Engineer

The goal would be to support the subcontractor to guarantee the conformity of the product to the requirements specified by the customers, and support on quality on time and on cost delivery on an important deep space project. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Perform defined quality inspection tasks for products covering key and mandatory inspection points. This includes incoming inspection, inspection of all operations during manufacturing, assembly, integration, test, maintenance, repair and overhaul, and final conformance inspection prior to delivery using. During the inspection tasks, to identify all deviations and attest the conformity of the product to the design by using an inspection checklistplan. Make sure the usual space quality standards in clean rooms are respected remind and explain their importance on the integration and assembly of the components, by giving advices and on field trainings. In case of deviations to carry out investigations into any quality issues, e.g. at shop floor level or software production, propose containment actions. Manage andor support the search for issues root causes and propose corrective and preventive actions as well as improvements. Verify that the industrial environment, facilities, hardware, jigs tools correspond to the operational safety requirements. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have at least 5 years project experience in space programmes. You have a strong technical expertise in space manufacturing, assembly, integration or test activities on components. You have at least level C1 in English understanding, writing and speaking. At least 2 years of concrete experience in clean rooms, with the space sector quality standards ideally ECSS. You have a first experience in technical team leading team coordinating. The initial focus in this role will be the provision of Quality and Product Assurance for the planned EUMETSAT Polar System Second Generation EPSSG System. This Programme is one of EUMETSATs most prestigious and is expected to be the most important source of satellite observations for all forecasts based on Numerical Weather Predictions in the 20212040 timeframe. The role will provide quality and product assurance support for the design and development of endtoend low earth orbit satellite systems, comprising satellites, launch services and ground segment. EUMETSAT operates meteorological satellites to monitor the weather and climate from space and we are committed to be the leading userdriven operational agency in Europe for earth observation satellite programmes. The success of our missions is crucial for weather forecasting and environmental monitoring, and you could play a major part in this. In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to the definition and implementation of QA processes, you will also define and maintain QA plans and working practices and support the design phases of programmes in development. We expect you to be able to assess QA plans provided by our contractors during the various programme phases, to follow up any root cause analysis and to drive through any agreed corrective actions. You should have a University degree in engineering, Physics or Computer Science and ideally a professional certification as a quality auditor. You should also have a solid experience in QAPA for the design, procurement and Integration, Verification and Validation IVV of complex software intensive products. Ideally you should have experience gained from the aerospace field and have knowledge and practice of ISO 90012015, ECSSM and relevant EN standards.
