ResponsibilitiesDuties You are passionate about space flight dynamics and looking for a meaningful opportunity to enfold your talents? Then you are on the right track! We are supporting the European Space Agency with highly qualified services at the European Operations Control Centre ESOC in Darmstadt. For a new service position within flight dynamics division, we are searching for a flight dynamics authority to complement our international service team! You will support and execute operational tasks within the Test and Validation section for interplanetaryscience missions. This includes the validation of the operational software and the testing of the individual flight dynamics sub systems with respect to functionality and interfaces, both internal and external. Besides, you will contribute to training of the flight dynamics team to be prepared for critical mission phases. You will also contribute to system tests and mission simulation campaigns where the procedures and interfaces between spacecraft and ground stations, as well as between the various operations teams are tested and the full ground segment team is trained. Endtoend tests of the full chain from spacecraft via ground station, control system and flight dynamics system are performed during tracking campaigns to demonstrate successful orbit determination and the provision of pointing elements back to the ground station. In addition, you will specify and implement improvements and additions to existing Test and Validation software elements, typically on Linux workstations using C. Essential Skills The ideal candidate we are looking for contributes to our service team with the following characteristics Analytical approach to technical problems to develop and implement engineering solutions. Detailed understanding of fundamental laws and phenomena in mathematics and physics and the skill to apply this knowledge. An outstanding expertise in linear algebra and calculus. Proficiency in classical mechanics. Ability to define, implement, validate and operate software which applies the above solutions, using C as main programming language knowledge of UnixLinux and scripting languages is a valuable asset. Desire to extend technical skills. A high sense of operational responsibility and good communication skills. Aspiration to take operational responsibility in multidiscipline teams. Fluency in English, both in speech and writing. Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. Ability to work independently. Desirable Skills Additional desirable skills are Experience in programming objectoriented languages, preferably C. Experience with Linux. Experience with numerical mathematics. What youll be doing EUMETSAT had established a new datacentric strategy on the development of a portfolio of new Big Data Services which are due to enter operations in 2020. The portfolio is based on modern big data technologies and architectures, applications, user portals and hosted processing capabilities with full integration across the entire cloud stack from Infrastructure as a Service IaaS, Platform as a Service PaaS, Software as a Service SaaS up to Data as a Service DaaS. The Cloud Computing Infrastructure Service Engineer will manage the evolution and maintenance of the system and infrastructurelevel services IaaS PaaS layer. Those services include infrastructure resource provisioning on the EUMETSAT private onpremise hybrid cloud via a hybrid cloud management system HCMS and capacity and infrastructure accounting services. Proficiency in classical mechanics, including kinematics and dynamics of point masses, dynamics of rigid bodies, dynamics expressed in noninertial reference frames, e.g. including dynamics in rotating frames, rotation dynamics expressed in body fixed frame, conservation laws in mechanics, gravitational forces and field, orbit dynamics, Keplerian orbits and Kepler laws. Ability to tackle mechanics problems via analytical mechanics methods e.g. Lagrangian formulation is a valuable asset. Skills to apply above knowledge to develop solutions to technical problems in cooperation with customers and other experts. Ability to define, implement, validate and operate software which applies the above solutions, using C as main programming language knowledge of UnixLinux, scripting languages and Fortran 77952003 is a valuable asset.
