Quality Assurance Manager for Earth Observation Data Acquisition and Processing Ground Segment

Telespazio VEGA Deutschland is looking for a Quality Manager to lead and coordinate the quality assurance activities for a multinational consortium tasked with the development and provision of a multimillion Payload Data Acquisition and Processing Segment for a European Earth Observation programme. The project will start in early 2017. The project covers the provision of Ground Stations, the Network Infrastructure, the Payload Data Processing and the preparation and integration at different sites across Europe. The project spans from the preliminary design to the onsite verification and handover to the customer. The Quality Manager requires experience in ECSS Standards as applicable to satellite data processing ground segments. The Quality manager will be supported by the Telespazio VEGA Deutschland Quality Organisation. Submission deadline will be June 6th 2016. RESPONSIBILITIES DUTIES Monitoring and reporting on QAPA activities of the entire consortium including the lower tier suppliers Participation in formal reviews Chairing NonConformance Review Boards Handling of nonconformances Validation and Integration Test Approval and Witnessing Document Reviews Planning and Performance of Audits for the consortium including lower tier suppliers Critical Items Management Alert Management. QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE General quality management or product assurance experience in large projects with multiple, multicultural subcontractorspartners located at different sites. An engineering degree or equivalent Trained QA auditor Knowledge of QAPA supporting tools. ESSENTIAL SKILLS Good understanding of applying quality and product assurance in Software and Hardware environment, including the integration into systems Excellent understanding and demonstrable evidence of the application of ISO 90012008 Quality Management Systems Experience with other Management Systems, e.g. ISO 27001 Information Security Management Systems is a bonus Knowledge of ECSS Standards E, Q and M Lifecycle Management and Phase Reviews High level of interpersonal skills Excellence in spoken and written English Willingness to travel. DESIRABLE SKILLS Good command of the German andor French language Working Knowledge of Functional Safety Management Understanding Security requirements. Your post may develop towards the management of ground segment projects within the Project division. The Space team at Airbus Defence and Space, based in Guildford, are focused on the exploitation of Earth Observation EO data, primarily acquired from spacebased platforms. The scope of work undertaken by the team includes large space infrastructure projects, operational services supporting the uptake and exploitation of EO data across Europe and the downstream exploitation of EO data including the development and delivery of EOenabled products and services. The role of the Earth Observation Analyst is to support current and future RD and consultancy projects as well as operational service delivery. The scope of relevant activities includes support to consultancy studies exploring the potential for new EO application domains, the development of new EOenabled solutions and services, feasibility studies to detemine the operational potential of EOenabled service concepts and implementation delivery of operational EOenabled services. Experience of relevant Image Processing Software packages such as ERDAS, ENVI, eCognition, ESRI, NEST, Sentinel1 Toolbox etc. Relevant programming experience or aptitude an advantage Python, IDL.
