As part of the Ground Systems Centre of Competence of the Space Systems business line of Airbus Defence and Space, the Customer Maintenance and Support department is in charge of corrective maintenance, progressive maintenance, customer support and operational support for the Observation Satellite User Ground Segments SPOT67, SSOT, THEOS, PDGSSENTINEL1, FORMOSAT, HELIOS II, PHAROS, PLEIADES, etc..The objective of the Customer finalising the workaround solutions necessary to ensure missions in degraded cases. Following up anomalies investigation, identification of problems, retrofitting according to the defined procedures, sending of records to the teams which supply subsystems, management of incident files, etc. Playing back anomalies on the maintenance platforms and supplying contexts to the various supply teams Preparing the outline for complete system versions, following up production of the versions, validating them and deploying them on operational stations Correcting and modifying certain software Drafting mitigating and operational procedures Ensuring firstlevel functional expertise Taking part in maintenance inspections Actively participating in the improvement of operational support by demonstrating willingness to make suggestions Acting as the technical interface with customers arrangement of the FollowUp Committees, production of maintenance reports Making technical suggestions to modify the system This position will require travel for business 4 times per year in Europe, for a maximum of one week, and, as such, you must be able to travel accordingly.This position may involve shift work, including irregular working hours and weekend duties maximum of 17 weeks per year.As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate some of the following skills and competencies Qualified engineer or university equivalent or experienced technician 3 years of experience in customer support activities Good knowledge of Ground segments and the space sector functional image and mission chains The Linux environment and mass storage SANNAS, robotics, GPFS IT hardware and software MANTIS or equivalent Ideally, knowledge of some or all of the following Integrated IT architectures Networks Development C, JavaScript Virtualisation VMWARE Ability to work in a team Dynamic, meticulous and organised approach, and the ability to plan ahead Autonomy Sensitivity to customer relationships and a serviceoriented mindset Ability to anticipate problems Good interpersonal skills and good communication skills Advanced level of French and English. Job description Our customer, EUMETSAT, will be managing the routine mission operations of the Sentinel3 low Earth orbiting spacecraft for the European Copernicus programme. The first Sentinel3 spacecraft is scheduled for launch in September 2015. The aims of the Sentinel3 mission include measurement of seasurface topography, see and landsurface temperature, and ocean and landsurface colour in support of ocean forecasting and environmental monitoring. Responsibilities We are looking for a senior consultant to provide ocean science training and user support consultancy support for the activities mainly related to the ocean activities within the Training and User Support Teams of the User and Climate Services Division at EUMETSAT. In this position you will support the exploitation of the Sentinel3 marine data in respect to a growing community of users, in particular through the provision of information, management of training activities and engagement with user groups in coordination with the entity responsible for the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service. You will be part of the training team and will work with experts across EUMETSAT and partner organisations. The main tasks are Identify and regularly update the relevant user organizations, their fora and possible intermediaries on the Ssentinel3 marine mission and the marine data stream. Provide regular information to users and user groups on the status of the mission and the related marine and ocean products and service. Analyse and handle related user enquiries and user requests received via the EUMETSAT Helpdesk. Review the framework for user communications activities with respect to the Sentinel 3 mission and related marine and ocean products and services. Support the development of the relationships with key users and subject matter experts and facilitate feedback on the quality of the products and services provided. Establish the training requirements, develop and deliver a plan to meet those requirements, evaluate the effectiveness of the training and resources delivered. Identify and engage relevant and skilled subject matter experts to support user training. Maintenance and update of relevant user documentation e.g. user guides, etc Maintain contact with the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service user engagement processes, as required This is a full time position, located at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, and starting in SeptemberOctober 2015, or earlier if possible. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have an university degree, in a relevant discipline or other suitable qualification together with at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in relevant disciplines. A vacancy for a Future Missions Head of Earth Observation Group has arisen within the Airbus Defence and Space in Stevenage. You will be responsible for all EO mission related prospects and studies. Airbus Defence and Space Ltd is looking for a highly motivated and capable scientistengineer to lead the Future Missions Earth Observation Group, based in Stevenage. The successful candidate will provide leadership to a small expert group of professional scientists and engineers in undertaking the design and analysis of spaceborne systems, primarily for Earth Observation missions. In addition to leading the Group, the role will include work on a range of activities including mission and satellite system analysis and design, research and development activities, marketing and customer interfacing. Typical EO programmes of interest include the ESA Earth Explorer programme, ESAEU Global Monitoring for Environment and Security GMES, Eumetsat meteorology mission and national opportunities. This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities. Your mains responsibilities will be You will be responsible for all EO mission related prospects and studies, You will also be expected to develop overall business strategies within Airbus Defence and Space Ltd in relation to these missions including close coordination with Sales and Marketing, and define and lead associated RD activities. You will be responsible for tracking all EO prospects, contributing to bidnobid decisions, and will be required to take a leading role in proposals. Furthermore, you will be responsible for monitoring and guiding the management of all EO mission studies, including overall responsibility for the financial performance of studies. The successful candidate should have the aptitude and motivation to lead a small and dedicated team, to continue development of a world class capability in the design of future EO missions. Heshe will be expected to develop a productive relationship with EO scientists and other parts of the space community, through attendance at and contributions to meetings, workshops and conferences. This role will involve some travels for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly monthly travels in UK and Europe. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Educated to a University degree in Physics, degree in Engineering, specialised in Electric, aerospace, mechanical or Physics, Indepth experience at industry or postgraduate level in space systems including Earth Observation. A Ph.D. or M.Sc. in an appropriate subject is advantageous. Good understanding of Earth Observation applications and instrumentation is required, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with spacecraft and space systems engineers.
