We are looking for a Software Engineer for Earth Observation Applications Development MF SYSEOS201710HQ001 The successful candidate will be based in SintStevensWoluwe, Brussels area, and will join the Earth Observations Systems EOS Team which has the following expertise Develops complex software systems combining stateoftheart technologies from Earth Observation EOS, Geographic Information Systems GIS, and Knowledge Management KM domains. Leads projects for the European Space Agency ESA. Is involved in European Commission EC programmes, especially in the Research and Technology Development. Is developing commercial applications. Works frequently with international partners. Tasks and Responsibilities Design and development of distributed satellite and insitu data processing platforms to transform and fuse data to create downstream products. Applying Cloudbased distributed processing and Big Data methods and technologies. Qualifications and Experience A Masters Degree in the relevant discipline o Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, Physical Geometry, Remote Sensing. A minimum of 3 years experience in design and development of distributed systems SOA, MSA. Sound experience with Pythonbased programming especially on Web applications and services. Experience with the software development lifecycle. Good knowledge of Linux systems as a user and administrator. Knowledge andor experience with o Cloud and IaaSrelated techniques and tools e.g. Apache Spark and Hadoop, Ansible Playbooks, MarathonMesos, OpenStack. o Satellite Earth Observation data processing systems, especially in the areas of specification, design and implementation of large satellite instrumentrelated data processing systems andor subsystems. o Formats used in processing satellite data. o Scientific tools and languages e.g., Matlab, R, GDAL, numpy. o Scheduling and parallelisation of scientific software. o OGC standards, ISO Geographic Information standards, GISrelated techniques and tools, and of additional programming languages such as C and Go, is an asset. Earth Observation Spacecraft Operations Engineer

LSE Space GmbH is looking for the location in Darmstadt Germany a junior Satellite Operations Engineer for our customer EUMETSAT. Tasks The key person shall be integrated into the Sentinel3 Spacecraft Operations Team. The key person shall be primarily assigned to Satellite 3 FCT to support the routinine operarations of Senitnel3A as well as start the prepartion of the Sentinel3B when handed over from ESOC to EUMETSAT. The tasks of the Key person will typically include Support to the commissioning and routine operations of Sentinel 3A, and preparing for Sentinel3B comprising Provision of operational expertise to their relevant system in particular, with support to other platform subsystems andor payload instruments andor onboard software management, satellite simulator and ground segment operations interfaces Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary Investigations into satellite anomalies. This may require a close cooperation with the Post launch Support Office PLSO in ESTEC and space industry Support the coordination of partner agency interactions for relevant subsystemsinstruments Participation in the satellite oncall support rota Identification and support to implementation of system and process improvements concerning the Spacecraft Operations Team responsibilities and interfaces. Support to the system and operations preparation of sentinel3 C and D satellites Provide inputs and I or review the definition of system and satellite operational concepts Review space to ground interface specifications and flight operations manuals Support the definition of tools and processes required to prepare for and operate the satellites. Support to the system and operations preparation of other LEO satellites Provide operations preparation support as required to the Sentinel6 development. Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the key person shall have a demonstrated experience in at least two of the following mandatory skills Experience on Spacecraft Operations on Low Earth Orbit LEO, 3 axis stabilised spacecraft with responsibility for one or more platform subsystems or instruments during operational validation, commissioning or routine operations phases Experience of at least 3 years of SCOS2000 mission control system and use of the MOIS operations preparation tool Demonstrated experience in satellite performance monitoring and reporting aspects including anomaly analysis and solving in liaison with satellite industry, procedure change control and configuration management processes Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities. Desirable requirements Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Key person to have experience with some of the following Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements Familiarity with the ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard, customisation and usage Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures Other Information Start date is ASAP Fluency in English is mandatory The candidate must have a valid German work and residence permit or be an EU Citizen Location of work EUMETSAT in DarmstadtGermany.
