A vacancy for an ENS Principal Scheduler Engineer has arisen within the group discipline Planning Scheduling of the Project Data Management System Engineering Support department Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage.You will be responsible and accountable for the project scheduling preparation and reporting for one or several typically up to 3 projects of Earth Observation, Navigation and Science programmes line. This is a key role in the assigned Projects weekly, monthly, and quarterly review and reporting cycles to ensure accurate and timely visibility of key schedule, milestone and float data to Management, Customer, and internal Work Area Managers for valueadded decision making. This includes supporting the Project Managements representation to senior internal management and external customer as needed. You shall follow departmental processes and contribute to their improvement through lessons learned and specific improvement activities.Integrated within one or several project teams, in support to the Project manager, Project office manager andor Industrial manager, and by detailed twoway cooperation with the project Work Area Managers, you will ensure Project duration data consolidation. Project planning creation and update. Project schedule report edition towards customers and internal contributors. On demand Planning simulations. Critical path analyses and full consideration of schedule impact in the planning decision making at all levels. Trend Analysis. Support to the Estimate At Completion process via close coordination with the Project Controller and Project Management for delivery of consistent schedule input at appropriate level of breakdown and milestone filtering per Work Area, and support to crosschecking data consistency between scheduling and control. Appropriate engagement with project and senior internal management, other contributing schedule actors, and external customers and subcontractors as needed.We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree in Engineering with a background in Manufacturing would be desirable. Previous proven experience in a similar role Planning Scheduling. Experience of complex technological projects in complex industrial and contractual arrangements. Comprehensive knowledge of Satellite or other highly skilled engineering processes. Good knowledge of Project scheduling methodology. Good understanding of Project Management principles. Experience in Primavera P6 and MS Project are both required. Experience with Excel VBA would be desirable. Good communication skills and attention to detail, proactivity and proven team working capability. Tasks and Responsibilities The role is to coordinate an Earth Observation data management project, in a dynamic and international environment. The successful candidate will coordinate and review the EOSIP specification, oversee the development phase and coordinate and the operation implementation. This is currently limitied to ERS and ENVISAT datasets. The Project Coordinators main responsibilities would be Establish and maintain the required interfaces with ESA, Consortium partners and third party Providers Technical coordination day to day management Handle any Specific Anomaly andor deviation, interfacing with ESA EOSIP Technical Coordinator and escalating to the ESA project manager EOSIP Specification Review responsibilities Technical coordination of EOSIP Specification review including the following activities Critical review of the specification providing comments Interfacing with ESA EOSIP Technical coordinator Check for o existence of source of metadata o Critical review of fields included in the specification o Consistent across different instruments or modes of same Instrument o metadata consistency with respect to the source of e.g. product specification catalogue information Interaction with author of the specifications in meetings to speed up the signoff EOSIP development Coordination Ensure the specification are agreed by all parties and implementation process would be smooth Interfacing with the software development team for all issues relating to the eosip specifications Managing progress Liaising between ESA and consortium for all software related issues EOSIP Operational Coordination Scheduling the operations for every EOSIP conversion including o Ensuring the facility is ready and with capacity o Ensuring the data is ready and available o Ensuring the software is integrated and tested Monitor and report on the progress and performance of the activity Coordinate the deliverables preparation and delivery Requirements The following skills and experience are mandatory Good Knowledge of Payload Data Ground Segments Good knowledge of Earth Observation data products Have at least 5 years experience in working in similar environments. operations or engineering Have collaborated with ESA worked in projects with ESA Very good customer liaison capability Proactive approach to problem identification and resolution Teamwork teamplayer spirit Take full responsibility for the successful conclusion of the activities Have a dynamic outlook and be success oriented Candidates should be fluent in English and have good writing and communication skills Availability to travel within Europe to attend meetings The following would be considered an asset Scientific background in at least one of the EO missions Understanding in Earth Observation production chain Application procedure Important All applicants must hold a current valid work permit for Italy or be EU nationals. A vacancy for a Service Operator and Digital Mapping Analyst has arisen with Airbus Defence Space in Farnborough to work on the Copernicus programme. The CDS Coordinated Data Access System layer of the CSCDA Copernicus Space Component Data Access has been established by the European Space Agency and is concerned with all aspects relating to the distribution and dissemination of satellite imagery procured in the context of Copernicus. The CDS layer and its subcomponents are responsible for managing the interface between suppliers of the relevant datasets and the Copernicus projects CSPs that are using the data for these five main areas Customer Interface functionalities SCI, e.g. user registration, information portal updates, help desk and order desk, including interaction with the various Copernicus Contributing Missions CCMs user services to coordinate mission planning and production, emergency activations handling Data Quality activities CQC to ensure data delivered by the CCMs is in line with requirements Data Dissemination activities CDD from all integrated CCMs to the CDS infrastructure Reporting on all service aspects CRP, including internal to ESA and external to CSPs reporting Configuration and coordination tasks CCO for ensuring overall system configuration is aligned and as expected. DUTIES The appointee will be responsible for promoting increased awareness of and for the operational use of Earth Observation EO information services within the World Bank. This will involve working in close cooperation with both bank staff and endusers in client states developing countries in support of demonstration projects with specialist EO service providers. The longterm objective is to achieve widespread acceptance and sustainability of EObased products and services within Bank operations. This supports EO service providers to bridge the gap between new applications and sustainable EObased information services. It capitalises on innovative developments in science and technology resulting from ESA and European national EO missions. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or similar qualification in remote sensing, geospatial information or Earth sciences. A few years work experience postMasters in the area of EO applications and an understanding of the global sustainable development policy context is required. Knowledge of WB operations is an advantage. For this position, candidates must have a good knowledge of ESA and its activities in particular the EO exploitation programmes STSE, SEOM, DUE VAE and the broader capabilities of the European EO service sector an experience of pursuing dialogue with institutional users especially in developing countries, understanding the associated information requirements, and identifying longerterm opportunities for EO information services an excellent written and oral communication skills a background in geospatial analysis and experience with image processing, computer technology, and GIS software. They must be able and willing to work in a highly multicultural environment. They should be selfmotivated, resultsoriented and flexible enough to be able to work in a range of technical areas.
