Telecommunications Satellite Payload Engineer The UK Space Sector is growing with a target size of 40bn by 2030. The new ESA Centre at Harwell will house 100 staff by the end of 2015, providing an exciting international environment focussed on Satellite Applications and Telecommunications. HE Space is seeking a team of 8 telecomms specialists to support the ESA Atlas programme which provides opportunities for industrial partners to gain flight testing of innovative product and service ideas. As part of this team you will be given the opportunity to work across the project lifecycle from prephase A studies through to design and development of both satellite and ground segment technologies, giving you a unique opportunity to build your experience and develop your interest in satellite telecommunications. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Evaluate the technical proposals from industrial partners to Atlas funding. The proposals will cover both satellite and ground segment technologies and services. Preparation of Market Analysis and studies identifying end user needs in future satcoms systems Project Management of Atlas funded projects in collaboration with the industrial partners Preparation of technical proposals in support of new satcom systems Design Authority and technical lead in the architectural definition of the end of end satcoms system including both space and ground segment. Lead system tradeoffs and studies to evaluate new concepts and technologies across satcoms systems. Support the negotiation, monitoring and control of contracts and activities related to system studies and Phases A of new telecommunication satellite projects Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering Several years of industrial experience in payload technology and products for telecommunication satellites Experience with the design, analysis, qualification, testing and implementation of satellite payload equipment for telecommunication satellites Management of development contracts for satellite payload equipment Experience in design, development andor exploitation of active RF units, such as Low noise amplifiers Channel amplifiers and linearisers Power amplifiers Frequency converters Digital signal processors Excellent organisation and communications skills and willingness to travel Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Satellite Platform Operations Engineer 1513020 Job Description We are looking for a Satellite Platform Operations Engineer to support our client EUMETSAT for both routine operations and operations preparation of the MTP and the MSG satellite platforms with particular emphasis on all MTP subsystems and MSG Flight Software subsystem DHSS, and, in the longer term, for the operations preparation of the MTG satellites. You shall work in the Meteosat Satellite Operations Team and support the platform routine operations of the inorbit MSG satellites and the operations preparation for the platform subsystems of MSG4. At a later stage you will support the Operations Preparations of the MTG satellites. The tasks will be mainly carried out at EUMETSAT facilities in Darmstadt, but travel within Europe may be required for certain activities. You will be integrated in both the MTP and the MSG Spacecraft Operations Teams. The tasks in the area of SC platform routine operations and operations preparation will typically include Support to the conduct of routine operations of the inorbit MTP and MSG spacecraft and to the commissioning of MSG4, taking the lead on coordinating MSG4 satellite specific spacecraft commissioning tests. You shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, demonstrating analytical approach and attention to detail and shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision.
