This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. Job Description We are looking for an experienced SOE, specializing in the area of thermal and power onboard subsystems. You may also support additional subsystems or backup functions including test, validation and operation of the mission planning system and simulator. Your tasks for the EUCLID mission will also include Study of project specific characteristics and Ground Segment documentation Preparation of functional requirements for flight control software Participation in the analysis and design of satellite operations Preparation of flight control and contingency procedures Production of software validation and satellite interface validation tests SVT Participation in LEOP, spacecraft commissioning and mission critical operations Mandatory Requirements Minimum of 3 years experience University degree in a relevant engineering field, astronomy, mathematics or physics. Spacecraft subsystem knowledge on thermal and power subsystems Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations engineering Experience in Mission Data systems from operational point of view, i.e., Mission Control systems and simulators Desirable Requirements Familiarity with the ESOC environment. Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 and visualisation MIMICs Experience dealing with external interfaces like the Science Operations Centre, the mission project team and the industry team for developing the space segment. Spacecraft Operations Engineer SOE Solar Systems and Exploration Missions Mars Exploration

Once successful you will be primarily assigned to the Mars Exploration Operations Unit but will have opportunities to work on other missions within the Solar System and Explorations Missions Division. This is a fabulous opportunity for an individual with excellent communication skills in English, to work on a number of hugely interesting programmes. The scope of the role is wide ranging and includes Test Preparation and Execution FOP Preparation Mission Phase Definition Mission Phase execution including LEOP, commissioning, Mars Arrival and Surface operations Anomaly Handling, Mission Planning and Spacecraft Performance Analysis and Reporting. You should have experience in all of these areas. You should have applicable knowledge and experience across all Spacecraft Subsystems AOCS DH OBSM Power Thermal TTC Payload also have experience in Ground Segment development, improvement activities in support of flight operations and activities applicable to spacecraft operations. It is a key requirement that you are able to demonstrate your team player attributes ideally with experience of coordinating and interacting with other service providers in operations scenarios. The role will develop with the mission phases, and across different missions so we are looking for engineers who can demonstrate initiative and flexibility in a fastpaced environment, perhaps already familiar with the ESOC environment. With experience of the full lifecycle of spacecraft flight procedures, deep space missions and validation of ground segment systems you will ideally have carried out procedure creation, validation and simulations. You should also be familiar with SCOS2000, onboard software and MOIS. Spacecraft Operations Engineer SOE Heliophysics Spacecraft Systems

Thorn SDS provides specialist spacecraft engineering services within the European Space Sector. We have a new and immediate requirement for services within the Heliophysics Missions Operations Unit at ESA ESOC, Darmstadt. This is a fabulous opportunity for an experienced SOE with excellent communication skills in English, to work on a number of hugely interesting programmes. Once successful you will initially support Cluster II in extended routine operations and Solar Orbiter in cruise operations and will have opportunities to work on other missions within the Solar System and Explorations Missions Division. The scope of the role is wide ranging and includes Operations Supervision, Mission Planning, Spacecraft Performance Analysis and Reporting, Phase Execution, Anomaly Handling and Onboard Software. You should be able to clearly demonstrate experience in all of these areas. We expect you to have applicable knowledge and experience across all Spacecraft Subsystems and ideally be considered expert in at least one AOCS DH OBSM Power Thermal TTC Payload you should also be able to demonstrate your team player attributes ideally with experience of coordinating and interacting with other service providers in operations scenarios. The role will develop with the mission phases, and across different missions, so we are looking for engineers who can demonstrate initiative and flexibility in a fastpaced environment. With experience of the full lifecycle of spacecraft flight procedures and deep space missions, you will have carried out procedure creation, validation and simulations. You should have worked on SVTs, anomaly investigations and have a good understanding of spacecraft operations at system level. Programming skills in Python, a good understanding of general software engineering practices SQL, Djangi, Docker, GITLAB, experience with MOIS and a familiarity of the SCOS2000 mission control system would all be considered advantageous. Juggling tasks and making the most of the resources available to you will be essential in this role.
