Key Tasks and Responsibilities The primary area of responsibility is Test Validation in the AOCS domain TVA for Science Missions, including interplanetary missions and missions in Lagrangian orbits. We are looking for a Payload and Validation Engineer to support the SCIF Payload Technology Validation Activities, in the Directorate of Science DSCI. Main Tasks Responsibilities Coordinate with the mission study team, project team or operations team for the definition of the validation activities. Definition of the validation activities setups. Software development in support to payload technology validation activities data analysis and equipment control. Design of lownoise analogue and digital electronics as required for the implementation of payload validation activities. This aspect of the work has a particular emphasis on imaging detector readout electronics. Manufacturing and test of electronic circuits. Supporting electronic system, components and electrooptical sensor characterisations in the sections laboratories. Development of firmware and instrument control and readout software. It is expected that the Payload Validation Engineer will support reviews, working groups and meetings, examples are Specific working groups. Future mission review panels. Project review panels. Technology Development Activity Reviews. Payload validation test bench reviews. Specific qualification requirements A Master degree or Phd in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Research and Testing of dedicated payload technologies. Excellent knowledge and Proficiency in Imaging detectors for science payload. Related payload system design and performances evaluation. Electrooptical test bench technology. Data analysis and modelling for electrooptical performances evaluation. C language essentially for use with hardware drivers and one or 2 assembly languages andor VHDL.. Python Scientific Python programming, familiarity with libraries ctypes, pyfits, pyvisa, pyGTK, scipy, numpy. o C skills. Breadboarding and testing. Design, manufacturing, testing and performance analysis of noiseoptimised electronic circuits, preferably in the space domain. Lownoise analogue, highspeed digital techniques and mixedsignal circuits, preferably in the field of image sensors. PCB CAD and electronic circuit simulation software tools. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively, autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives, as well as project deadlines. A very good working knowledge of spoken and written English is essential. Position Reference 970 We are currently looking for a Flight DynamicsTest and validation Engineer to work at ESOC premises in the city of Darmstadt, Germany. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Mission support for active spacecraft BepiColombo, MarsExpress, Gaia, ExoMars TGO, SolarOrbiter Running existing procedures on a predefined schedule typically once every one or two weeks during routine operations to validate internal and external products. Support recovery from contingency situations under highstress timeconstrained conditions. This requires indepth knowledge of the AOCS of the spacecraft, as well as the missionspecific and generic TVA software and tools. As well as indepth knowledge of the processes of the supported subsystems Attitude Monitoring and Command Generartion. Participation in regular and adhoc meetings to support nominal and contingency operations. Preparation for new mission phases, including software updates, new software development, writingmaintaining procedures, and participating in validation campaigns. Launch preparation for upcoming missions ExoMars RSP, Euclid, JUICE Familiarization with the spacecraft, in particular in terms of AOCS, using the spacecraft user manual. Configure existing generic TVA software to support validation of the command and attitude FD systems. Expand existing software, including unit andor regression tests, as necessary to support the new mission and to support validation of the command and attitude FD systems. Develop new software, including regression tests and documentation, required to support validation of the command and attitude FD systems. Singletesting parts of the command and attitude FD systems, and documenting these tests and their results. Define and write procedures in terms of documents, and semiautomated scripts to execute the procedures. Participation in FD system initialization, and system test campaigns. In addition to the routine products, this includes validation of the operational FD database, a 3D model of the spacecraft, etc. Provision of simulated SC data telemetry for FD subsystem and system tests and the required tools for modelling. Provision of input data for the operational simulator and support to the SimOfficer in the definition of contingency scenarios. Participation in simulation campaigns. Participation in LEOP and early mission phase. After the early mission phase is over, support for these missions transitions to the type described in point 1 above. Continual integration of software and procedure updates on the operational platform. Oncall support may be required around critical operations. The primary areas of responsibility for this position are the Test Validation in the AOCS domain TVA for Science Missions, including interplanetary missions and missions in Lagrangian orbits. The service to be provided is primarily related to EXOMARS RSP, Euclid launch preparation, LEOP support and operations, and BepiColombo operations. However, the engineer may also be requested to provide the services related to GAIA, Mars Express, ExoMars TGO, JUICE, Hera and Solar Orbiter.
