Tasks and Responsibilities As successful candidate your tasks and responsibilities will be Performance Analysis of Optical Payload Straylight Analysis of Complex Optical Systems Conceptual design of optical systems, as telescopes, spectrometers Translation of optical payload requirements into optical specifications Definition of optical performance validation and calibration plan Analysis of test results Followon of technology development high precision optical components. Requirements As Key Person you should bring a Master Degree in Optical Engineering or Physics or equivalent qualification by experience and the following Minimum 6 years of project andor industrial experience in the analysis of various types of optical instrumentation Very Good analytical skills are mandatory Proactive attitude to solving problems Several years experience in precision optical measurements at system, subassembly and component level Good technical judgement and excellent verbal and written communication skills, in the English language Experience in space project work, and of operations in a cleanroom environment. We are involved in international manned unmanned spacecraft programmes, earth observation, science, exploration, communications and related technology development. We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position Optical Imaging Sensors Operations XBand and PDHU Engineer mf Tasks and Responsibilities The work will be performed at the European Space Operations Centre ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. This position, generally referred to as a Spacecraft Operations Engineer SOE, is responsible for the support to the Sentinels missions as a member of the Flight Control Team FCT during the operational phases, including special operations, and will also participate in test campaigns. The position will include the following tasks and responsibilities Act as Expert Operations and Planning for the assigned Optical imaging sensors especially in the area of Spectometry Operations, including Xband and PDHU subsystem management, during LEOP, Commissioning and Routine phases. Validation, test and operation of the Simulator and of the Mission Control System MCS including the OnBoard Software Maintenance OBSM and Mission Planning System. Generation, validation and maintenance of the Flight Operations Plan FOP primarily on Payload, PDHU and Xband subsystems, but also for other systems. Support to test and operate the Network Data Interface Unit NDIU. Support for Flight Operations System FOS procurement, integration and tests. Review of satellite documents. Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP support Responsible for Payload, PDHU and Xband. Commissioning support Responsible for Payload, PDHU and Xband. The tasks to be performed require considerable initiative, flexibility and independence in executing the assigned tasks. Qualifications and Experience Applicants should have as a minimum a Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline and minimum 3 years of experience in Operations Engineering activities. The following qualifications and experience are required Excellent knowledge and demonstrates experience in Satellite Flight Operations, including FDIR. In particular, for this service support expert knowledge in the areas of optical imaging sensors, ideally spectrometers eg GOME, SCIAMACHY, TROPOMI operations execution andor OPSPREP, and in the data storage and xband operations or OPSPREP is essential. Experience with Packet Utilisation Standard. Experience in working in an operational environment. Experience with flight procedures life cycle, including validation. Experience with anomaly investigations. Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems. Experience with low Earth orbit satellites operations, including experience in preparatory phase OPSPREP, special Operations LEOP, deorbiting campaign and routine operations. The ability to work independently with little supervision. Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel. Capable to coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. Fluent in English both written and spoken. Familiarity with operational simulators, ideally SimSat, and management of SPRs life cycle. Familiarity with Earth Observations missions, in particular with Copernicus Sentinels. Familiarity with Telemetry and Telecommand TMTC databases, preferably SCOS2000 compatible. Familiarity with multisatellite missions. Experience in ground tests preparation and execution, e.g. Satellite Validation Test. Experience in cooperation with Flight Dynamics Teams. Experience with XML formatting. Experience in file exchange mechanisms, including security aspects. The following experience is desirable Familiarity with Network Distribution and Interface Units or similar Electronical Ground Segment Equipment EGSE. Familiarity with MUST. Familiarity with ESOC working environment and Quality Management System QMS. The position is located on site at ESOC and will involve short European travels.
