DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Fausto was located near latitude 23.1 North, longitude 122.9 West. The depression is moving toward the northwest near 17 mph (28 km/h), and a gradual turn toward the west-northwest and west at a slower forward speed is anticipated over the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Fausto is expected to degenerate into a remnant area of low pressure on Monday. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches). The remnants are moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h), and a toward the northwest is expected tonight. The remnants are forecast to recurve toward the north and northeast Tuesday and Tuesday night. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. The maximum winds associated with the remnants are forecast to continue to decrease over the next day or two. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1010 mb (29.83 inches).
