Payload Data Processing Systems Engineer

Come and use your engineering skills to help define the payload data processing systems for our future satellite missions. EUMETSAT, the European meteorological satellite agency is looking to recruit a Payload Data Processing Systems Engineer. Bringing together the resources of 30 member states, we observe the atmosphere, ocean, and land surfaces from space using a system of satellites 365 days a year. Our data is vital for weather forecasts that help to protect lives and property, as well as monitoring the environment and our changing climate. We want you to come and join our team that will shape the requirements for the data processing chain for the JasonCSSentinal6 satellite programme. You will design, develop and upgrade our payload data processing systems, following rigorous verification and validation techniques. Performance testing will be required on our Level 1 and 2 products along with identifying ways to harmonise our developments across all our satellite systems. With your expertise of understanding the full development lifecycle of the processing chain, you will contribute to transitioning our enhancements into operations. You will use your experience of the design and development phases of Data Processing Systems to coordinate our activities and to ensure that we prioritise our resources and record outcomes in line with European standards. You need to be comfortable managing complex tasks autonomously, using your strong project management skills to ensure that resources are used effectively. You will use your interpersonal and communication skills to explain complex ideas and solutions in a matrix environment, working with both our inhouse teams and partners. Senior Engineer, Spacecraft Subsystem Payload Context The incumbent ensures six sigma satellite payload availability by providing highly specialized engineering expertise in payload in all phases of a satellite life cycle from satellite specification to build phase and operations. HeShe is responsible to ensure that satellite health and safety is maintained all along its life cycle. Heshe plans, coordinates and performs required RF transponder testing and preparing and executing the required procedures for payload recovery in case of anomalies.
