Product Assurance Engineer mf The Mission During the operational lifetime of the Columbus International Space Station until 2020 or beyond new scientific payloads will be introduced at regular intervals. Terma is in direct negotiation to provide product assurance consultancy in support of the procurement, integration and operation of these payloads. The Challenge We are looking for experienced and pragmatic product assurance engineer with strong background in spacecraft hardware and subcontractor monitoring. Because of the potential risk to life inherent in manned missions, we expect the product assurance consultant to exercise a strong influence over programme decisions. Typical tasks include Monitor subcontractor compliance with product assurance requirements. Critically review of specifications and subcontractor delivered documents. Represent product assurance interests at design reviews and progress meetings. Perform analyses at various levels of integration, e.g., for failure mode effect and criticality reliability availability maintainability safety, failure detection, isolation and recovery parts derating. Perform inspection of incoming equipment. Contribute to delivery acceptance reviews. Develop and implement parts procurement and storage strategies. Perform regular and extraordinary quality audits. Organisesupportchair subcontractor level boards, e.g., for materials and processes control parts control, nonconformance review, delivery review, test readiness review, test review. Critically review of subcontractors technology qualification plans. Track product assurance alerts, e.g. for components and materials. Contribute to higher level quality assurance deliverables. Planning and witnessing key tests. Configuring and reading test equipment. Analyse, process and track subcontractors requests for waivers and deviations. Organise internal support to subcontractorlevel mandatory and key inspection points. Support to postdelivery activities higher level integration and test. This is a fulltime position located in Bremen Germany with work starting at the earliest possible date. Your Qualifications Applicants shall have an university degree, preferably in aerospace, electronics or physics or other suitable qualification together with some professional experience in spacecraft andor operational applications. Essential skills are Minimum 35 years practical experience with space product assurance focus on hardware Full familiarity with the space project lifecycle and associated product assurance tasksdeliverables Experience with spacecraft hardware, especially payload equipment A university degree in a technical subject, or the equivalent English fluency spoken and written, both in formal and informal situations. Desirable skills are Experience with Columbus ISS or other manned space missions Experience with relevant standards as established by, e.g., ECSS, MIL, ISO, EN, CE Experience in subcontractor monitoring Practical grasp of space software quality assurance Some exposure to the AstriumST organisation Experience in a similar consultancy role as a resident consultant operating on site within a customer organisation Possession of documentationpermits for working and living in Germany Previous exposure to Germany, or else previous experience living outside your home country for nonGerman applicants or else extensive experience working with international partners. We require prior experience with Product Assurance and Safety, preferably in the spaceflight domain, and especially manned spaceflight. Experience of the following is an advantage ESA and ECSS standards. Knowledge of the ISS and manned spaceflight environment, including safety approval process, other relevant frameworks like CMMI, ISO, PMBOK, ISO9001. Experience with Qualification of COTS equipment for the space environment.
