Within the Expertisegroup Engineering we develop, build and test hightech mechanics and electronics for innovative scientific space instruments. We work intensively together with a variety of technical specialists in small dynamic teams. In the Engineering group we have a vacancy for a Product Assurance manager fm Vac. Nr. 959 for the purpose of the establishment of an appropriate policy in consultation with the project manager and team members with respect to the implementation of quality control within a project ensuring the execution of the quality implementation plan coordinating the Quality Assurance employees assigned to the project assess and judge the implementation of quality standards for product design both within SRON as with supplying industries and scientific institutes acceptance of products at suppliers industry andor institutes for sub system integration approve the final verification of unit assemblies to the customer initiating and conducting technology assessments. Profile You are analytical and have a background in mechanical or electrical engineering at bachelor or master level, a broad knowledge of quality systems and a thorough knowledge of the use of components, materials and processes. You also master the Dutch and English language very well, both verbal as in writing. You are a true communicator, manage teams within SRON, but also play a key role in an international consortium with partners at home and abroad. Excellent communication skills are therefore a must. You are technically creative in combination with the setup of systems at international level. You are able to work independently but you excel in multidisciplinary, international teams. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding for the need for assurance to industry and programme standards to support the new developments within the Space Navigation business. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in software engineering, with substantial experience in software product assurance in the aerospace or comparable fields, preferably on softwareintensive safetycritical systems. Knowledge and experience of ECSS software engineering, software PA and civil aviation standards DO178BC, DO278 are also required. Familiarity with GNSS and EGNOS would be a clear advantage, as would experience with software certification processes. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills, being able to work effectively, autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. They should have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to problemsolving and an interest in innovative technologies. In the execution of these tasks, the postholder will be supported by experts from the Galileo Project team and from the ESA Directorate of Technical and Quality Management. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent in engineering, together with a background in space systems. Experience in the management of PA for a large project is required, together with a good knowledge of software and RAMS engineering techniques, preferably in the domain of aerospace development. Experience in the security domain is an asset. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills.
