A new opportunity has arisen for a Product Assurance and Safety support Service position to support in specific teams and perform the product assurance process. The main focus of tasks of the PA activities will be Plan and keep uptodate the PA activities in support to the team output PA Plan and PA Work Packages. Monitor the compliance of the team to applicable standards and customer requirements output PA KPIs, nonconformance management, corrective and preventive actions. Organise and conduct the management of anomalies and problems in each team output problem management, corrective and preventive actions. Organise and conduct the management of configurations and changes within each team output configuration management, baselines. Define and monitor the implementation of the rules for document production by the team output documentation management. Solicit the identification of improvements by the team output lessons learned. Provide direct support to the team as requested possible output demonstration of Dependability requirements, outage analysis, risk register maintenance. In particular the following tasks are highlighted Configure and maintain the PA quality tools to specifically supports the missions. Support ground and spacecraft anomaly review meetings, tracking all decisions taken. Support configuration review meetings to process all change requests. Maintain the ground segment product tree of each mission and the agreed documentation baseline. Organise and conduct the Freeze in view of critical operations. Stimulate the regular assessment of risks and reflect the update in the relevant risk register. Stimulate the collection of lessons learned after each major milestone. Survey document production by the team and provide quality review of documents on request. Attend agreed simulation sessions and support the chasing of actions raised in the Debriefing. Support critical operations on console on shift, according to instructions from Flight Operations Director. The Service Provider is required to familiarise himherself with the missions heshe is supporting and in particular with the procedures and tools that are needed to perform the PAQA operations. The tasks to be performed require considerable initiative, flexibility and independence in executing the assigned tasks, within the approach defined by OPSQ. Supporting the inclusion of results in internal databases. Maintenance of the relevant test equipment. The Contractor shall ensure that the equipment under his responsibility is kept in an operational state and shall ensure that all necessary routine calibration and maintenance activities are carried out. JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities Duties Tasks The focus of this Sentinel3 Optical Sensor Calibration Expert Consultancy is to support the calibration of the Ocean and Land Colour Imager OLCI and Sea and Land Surface Temperature Radiometer SLSTR instruments on the Sentinel3 mission, which EUMETSAT operates on behalf of the European Commission. Hence, the focus will be to provide an indepth understanding of the instruments calibration and characterisation inorbit. The calibration data and instrument performance will be analysed using existing tools and by developing inhouse tools for instrument calibration as well as vicarious and intercalibration to adjust and monitor the operational calibration systems. The Key person shall support the Calibration Team of INRC competence area, in close collaboration with the Ocean Colour and Surface Temperature Radiometry teams in the Marine Applications competence area, whose activities the consultant shall primarily support. The workplace will be EUMETSAT. The tasks of the Key person will typically include scientific analysis of the radiometric and spectral calibration of Ll data from OLCI and SLSTR, analysing results of prelaunch and inorbit calibration systems and characterisation data , including o solar diffusers, straylight, nonlinearity, SNR, polarisation sensitivity, o spacecraft manoeuvres performed during or after commissioning, developing indepth knowledge of the instruments operational processing chain, applying the calibration monitoring tools to OLCI and SLSTR, which will include a combination of o pseudoinvariant calibration sites, o Rayleigh scattering over the sea, o lunar calibration, o deep convective clouds, o intercalibration against collocated hyperspectral sounder observations, developing specific components of the calibration monitoring tools to handle Sentinel3 data, analysing results of these tools to provide information on these sensors performance, performing comparisons with other instruments, such as A VHRR, VIIRS, MODIS to gain understanding of the performance ofOLCI and SLSTR, using GEOCAL tool developed by ESA to monitor geometric performance, providing recommendations to implement changes to the operational procedures and processing chains to improve the instruments calibration, working with the team responsible for generating L2 products for these instruments to assess and improve the instruments calibration, writing and reviewing documentation describing the instruments calibration and aspects oftheir Ll processing. Qualifications A university degree or equivalent in Physics, Remote Sensing, Instrument engineering, or similar Required knowledge At least 5 years experience in the processing of satellite data to generate calibrated Ll datasets in the visible, near andor thermal infrared. At least 5 years experience in L 1 calibrationvalidation. Recognised expertise in the calibration of optical sensors both prelaunch and on orbit. The Consultant shall be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of statistical techniques and understanding of the concepts of calibration and traceability. The Consultant shall have a good knowledge of radiative transfer in the solar andor infrared spectral ranges and experience in applying them for surface andor atmospheric applications. Proven experience in the use of data analysis tools, such as MatlabIDL, scripting languages, such as PerlPython and highlevel programming, such as CCFORTRAN on a LinuxUnix environment, and an aptitude to learn further programming languages as required. Experience in the implementation of calibration algorithms.
