For our activities in Germany, we are looking for a person to provide Long Term Archive Engineering Consultancy Support. TASKS Requirement management, design, implementation, verification validation and maintenance of EUMETSAT Long Term archive software and documentation, and related commercial off the shelf software COTS, throughout the entire software life cycle with particular focus on evolutions for new programmes Investigation of anomalies, their documentation, classification and, the development and delivery of SW correction, including the execution of relevant regression testing 2nd line support for the EUMETSAT Long Term Archive and the related communication and interaction with other teams at EUMETSAT Software configuration management, release preparation and deployment of software corrections. Able to work and communicate effectively in English EU national or valid work permit for Germany CV in Europass format A minimum of 5 year experience in the following mandatory areas Software development, verificationvalidation and maintenance, using a formal life cycle Software Engineering with extensive experience in designing and developing software components and applications in the Java 1and CC programming language under UnixLinux using Object Oriented OO approach Provision of 2nd line maintenance support for operational systems Relational Databases JDBC and SQL XML, XML Schema and XSLT technologies Practical knowledge of as many as possible of the following will be an advantage Usage of Hierarchical Storage Management HSM system SAMFS or equivalent Operations and maintenance of long term archive software and systems in a 247 operational environment Software development using the Google Web Toolkit GWT Meteorological Data Format Conversion netCDF Tomcat Application server development Spatial Solutions Oracle Locator, PostgresPostgis Software Building and Package management.

Support to The development of MTGFCI Level1 Reference Processor The scientific and engineering analysis of the radiometric calibration algorithms of L1 data from MTGFCI Specifying requirements and establishing specifications for the MTGFCI solar and lunar calibration products Definition, specification, design and development of additional monitoring tools for the future MTGFCI The development and the upgrade of the MultiMission Calibration System MuMiCS to achieve better accuracy, which include Pseudoinvariant calibration sites, Rayleigh scattering over the sea, Lunar calibration, Deep Convective Clouds. The development and the upgrade of the MultiMission System for InterCalibration MuMiSIC within the context of instrument monitoring and EUMETSATs involvement in GSICS activities The OPS Department in the routine operation of the MuMiCS and MuMiSIC Maintenance of the GIRO and GLOD infrastructure within GSICS, including the updating the GIRO with enhancements available from EUMETSATs partners Analyse the performance of different calibration techniques, including lunar calibration Support relevant satellite intercalibration studies, in particular in the context of GSICS activities Documentation, including writing of Algorithm Theoretical Basis Documents ATBDs, Specification Documents, Verification and Validation reports, and technical notes on the above activities. SKILLS University degree or comparable qualifications in Meteorology, Atmospheric Physics or related subjects. Familiar with satellite instrument characteristics for EO, in particular calibration and validation of Level 1 data. Able to work effectively in English Specific technical skills and experience A demonstrated experience of a minimum of 5 years in the area of satellite meteorology or satellite data processing, including at least 3 years of experience on onboard and vicarious calibration methods including lunar calibration and the use of pseudo invariant targets such as desert and ocean targets. Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of statistical techniques and understanding of the concepts of calibration and traceability. Have a good knowledge of radiative transfer in the solar andor infrared spectral ranges and experience in applying them for surface andor atmospheric applications. Proven experience in the use of data analysis tools, such as MatlabIDL, scripting languages, such as PerlPython and highlevel programming, such as CCFORTRAN in a LinuxUnix environment, and an aptitude to learn further programming languages as required. Proven experience in the specification, development, implementation and maintenance of calibration algorithms also with codevelopers.
