Sturgeon announces A 24.5m support fund for oil and gas industry

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced an extra A 24.5 million of support for the oil and gas industry on a visit to Aberdeen. Ms Sturgeon also unveiled a A 20 million investment in Aberdeen International Airport as part of a series of engagements in the city.

One of our clients in Germany is looking for a shortterm software management support. The candidate shall be involved in implementing improvements to the development environment for the companies Data Centre Archive and will be integrated within the Data Services Engineering Team. The duties shall be to analyse, design, and implement appropriate software configuration management, to support continuous integration, testing and deployment of UMARF software. Tasks Particular the tasks will include, but not be limited to The migration of the subversion repository to the TCE. Build management Improve the build processes with the introduction of continuous integration technologies. This will require some extensive rewriting of current build scripts. The following goals should be achieved An automated build process. Continuous running of test cases were possible. Improved reportingrealtime notification of build failuretest failures etc. Release management Improve the current software package management and deployment. Enable releases to be easily and efficiently implemented, tested and deployed. Simplification of the development environment. All prerequisites libraries, jar files, environmental variables etc, should be available from version control. Advice, suggestions and introduction of tools, practices and strategies for the software configuration management. QualificationsA university degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline. Experience The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge in the following areas, with a minimum of 5 years in both System Development Maintenance Skills Experience of building complex software, in particular setting up a continuous integration environment e.g. Jenkins. Experience of migrating and updating Subversion repositories. Software Technology Skills Experience of source code control systems SubVersion configuration and administration. Unix commands and shell scripting. Advanced knowledge and experience of using ant and make. Extensive experience of scripting languages. Extensive experience with software package management. Extensive experience and knowledge of the configuration and administration of continuous integration software e.g. Jenkins

The key person will support the procurement of data processing elements by advising on technical solutions and by reviewing documentation to confirm its compliance with the requirements. He will support management of the requirements baseline for data processing elements. The key person will support refinement of ICD and HumanMachine Interface HMI requirements and specifications. He will support testing, integration and acceptance of data processing elements, including HMIs. PROFILE In addition to having a University degree or equivalent, including experience in the engineering, physics, or software or similar domains the key person shall have the following mandatory attributes, skills, and experience Relevant experience in preparation of requirements, design, interfaces including HMI and testing documentation for data processing systems considering the systems engineering aspects of data processing management and data provision experience on data processing for high data rates Earth Observation missions will be considered an asset. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. One of our clients based in Germany is looking for a Solaris and Linux System Engineer. The candidate will provide support to all Ground Segment Commissioning and Routine Operations. The duties range from the support to the operation of the Solaris Linux based ground segment facilities, to the analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance of distributed hardware and system software platforms. Closing date 7th March 2016 Tasks Installation and configuration of operating system and other software, tuning of operating systems parameters to optimize performance. Analysis, planning and performance of Hardware HW and Software SW upgrades or reconfigurations, taking care of compatibility issues between subsystems. Monitoring of the system performance, investigation into HW and system SW problems and performance of the relevant corrective actions. Ensuring that in case of HW or system SW failures the operational configuration can be restored, including the definition, maintenance, performance of backup procedures. Liaison with the external providers of HW and system SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions. Administration and installation of databases. Administration of user accounts. Support to SW development and maintenance in relation to the utilization of system resources. Implementation and maintenance of scripts andor procedures where applicable for the automated andor controlled execution of the above activities, generation or update of technical documentation in relation to system upgrades. Tasks and Responsibilities The following specific tasks shall be carried out in support of the SINA networks project Contact the individual remote site to introduce the activity and provide them with the IT requirements Confirm contact details delivery address. Ensure this information is provided to Secunet Make sure get confirmation from both parties that the SINA box and all additional equipment has been delivered Get the required information for the Galileo Project team to prepare Smartcards Make sure the remote site understands the technical requirements, clarify if necessary with Galileo Secunet and make sure the site is ready for deployment Agree a suitable date between the remote site and Secunet for the physical activation of the site Verify the proper activation with the remote site and confirm once the site is operational Keep documentation on events e.g. delivery dates, activation dates, issues, etc. Verify invoices before are sent for payment.
