The relevant duties are given in the sections on the test execution and management tasks. The test conductor is normally supported by IVV engineers as required by the complexity of the tests. The following skills are considered mandatory Known Applications Satellite monitoring and control e.g. SCOS2000. Satellite communications packet TMTC, SLE protocol. Mission control functions. GS monitoring and control. Near realtime, Earth observation data processing, archiving, distribution. SpecificProduct Skills Operating systems UNIXLinux Networking Internet protocols, TCPIP programming, network monitoring Automated software testing Requirements and verification management DOORS Meteorological data formats HDF5, NetCDF, JPEG2000 Programming languages CC, Java, Javascript, XML, Perl, TclTk Software development environments Eclipse Relational databases MySQL, Oracle NICETOHAVE SKILLS CONSIDERED AS AN ADVANTAGE In addition, the following set of skills will be considered an advantage General Skills Structured software development and verification Software maintenance, performance monitoring ECSS standards Configuration control Requirements and verification management TASKS The tests to be executed are included in the System and GS IVV plans and associated schedules issued and maintained by EUMETSAT and, at the lower level of test case, in the test specifications. The test execution activities as part of the support service include scheduling of all test cases, in line with the overall System and GS IVV schedules ensuring sufficiently in advance of test execution that relevant test procedures, tools and data are ready to be used, performing any final tuning or setup as necessary organising and holding, under the direction of EUMETSAT, Test Readiness Reviews TRR, in which the readiness of all required elements to perform a specific set of tests those elements provided as part of the IVV support service, those part of the GS and System configuration, and the required engineering resources will be checked, any constraint dealt with and the final arrangements for the execution of the tests taken performing the tests according to the test procedures and the arrangements taken in the TRR, undertaking any required analysis of the results and recording the outcome in relevant test reports, and anomaly reports if necessary organising and holding, under the direction of EUMETSAT, Test Review Board TRB meetings to present the test results, the anomalies identified, and the proposed verification status of the requirements tested supporting Anomaly Review Board ARB meetings liaising with facility procurement teams and development contractors for technical issues related to the utilisation of the facilities, the communication of anomalies, the followup of their resolution and installation of patches or new releases.

This will be demonstrated through at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in relevant disciplines. NICETOHAVE SKILLS Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Consultant to have experience with Supporting previous user preparation activities in the Earth Observation arena Working with the meteorological user community, in particular national weather services Appreciation of the whole processing chain from satellite data sensing to use of a product. The Consultant shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision, acting as a credible and professional representative of EUMETSAT. TASKS The Consultant shall support the MTG user preparation activities through coordination of the MTG User Preparation Project. Additionally, they will support some of the user engagement activities identified in this Project. The consultant will be part of the User Support Team and will work with experts across EUMETSAT and partners organisations. The main tasks of the consultant, within the coordination role, are Maintain the MTG User Preparation Project plan and associated documentation and schedule related activities Collect and collate project inputs from all internal stakeholders, in particular those parts of the Remote Sensing and Products RSP Division providing the scientific development support for the MTG Programme and the teams within the Geostationary Programme Division GEO responsible for providing the operational Level 1 and Level 2 processors Arrange and attend regular MTG User Preparation Project team meetings and prepare meeting reports as required Record and monitor any open actions associated with the MTG User Preparation Project Prepare inputs to management reports on the status of the MTG User Preparation Project Keep abreast of guidelines issued by the WMO regarding user readiness activities for next generation satellites and prepare inputs and followup actions as required. The main tasks of the consultant, within the supporting preparation activities, are Support external coordination and user engagement activities for MTG user preparation, e.g. supporting RSP workshops, preparing and collating results from user surveys, etc. Support the Web Content Developers in the preparation of content for the MTG user information area on the EUMETSAT website Support the Training Team with updated information on the status of the MTG User Preparation Project for inclusion in training events.
