Space Applications Services performs space system and software engineering for the European Space Agency ESA, National Space Agencies and the space industry. We are involved in international unmanned and manned spacecraft programmes. We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position PA Safety Support Engineer ENGSERVPAE201402203 Tasks and Responsibilities The Safety Support Engineer will support the ESA PA Safety Manager for designated projects in conducting, monitoring assessing the implementation of the PA Safety Programme. The work will be performed at the European Space Research and Technology Centre ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The position will include the following tasks and responsibilities Contribute to establishing and maintaining the particular PAS requirements baseline for all elements of the Galileo FOC Satellites,in compliance with the ESA general Product Assurance and Safety Policy. Arranging for approval of the Galileo Satellites PAS requirements baseline and changes thereto by the Head of the Galileo PA Safety Office and the Head of the Product Assurance and Safety Department. Reviewing of contractors plans, specifications and effort proposed for the execution of the project PAS programme. Guiding and monitoring the implementation of PAS requirementsby contractors in order to assess performanceeffectiveness, participation in design and safety reviews and directing the necessary preventive or corrective actions. Representing ESA in the Boards established within the project for the disposition of Nonconformances Failure Reviews, Test Reviews, etc. Guiding and monitoring the application and procurement of EEE parts, materials and processes and controlling implementation of applicable requirements. Ensuring the implementation of the Software PA and Software Configuration Management Requirements baseline across the Galileo Space Segment. Monitoring the manufacturing integration and test activities with quality assurance audits, mandatory and key inspection points, test witnessing and configuration inspections. Supporting the definition of the formal acceptance requirements and conduction of acceptance reviews of all contractual deliverable items. Ensuring the preparation of design tradeoffs, analyses and reports using RAMS data to support project decisions. Supporting Security activities for space segment as appropriate. Arranging and making effective use of assigned functional support from the Product Assurance and Safety Department. Qualifications and Experience Applicants should have a University degree in a relevant discipline, minimum 6 years of experience in Product Assurance and Quality Assurance in the aerospace domain.Knowledge of Configuration Management or the implementation of Product Assurance within a quality system certified to ISO 9001 is an asset. Furthermore, candidates are required to have following skills Ability to cope with pressure. Fluent in English. High level of flexibility. Good organization skills, good communication skills. Tasks and Activities Your primary tasks and activities may include Supporting the Head of the Department as well as the Head of the ISS Utilisation and Astronaut Support Department in all financial activities. For example o Controlling of assigned contracts with respect to financial commitments, cost, schedule, progress, invoicing, industrial return, deviation from plans and trends o Provision of inputs to budgets, reports and forecasts o Risk management function through the identification of potential problem areas, analysis of their impact and proposal of remedial actions o Collect, enter, process, and update all financial, schedule and georeturn related data in the databases Support the Head of Department on setting up and follow up of third party agreements with industry or specific agreements with national space agencies, in coordination with Legal Affairs Support the Head of Department in the daily administration of the centre and the liaison offices in Houston and Moscow Support Managers and Technical Officers in using ESA corporate financial systems Acting as an interface for the ESA financial representative, purchase office and mission desk.
