Please note this is an external consultant position not a Staff position. The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to Tasks and Responsibilities Providing expert technical support and consultancy to ESA projects and programmes regarding passive components throughout all project phases Participating in project reviews and evaluation of procurement proposals Contributing to the definition of technology development requirements and work plans for the Agencys technology programmes Defining, initiating and managing RD activities Supporting technology domainrelated standardisation activities ESCC, ECSS Initiating and monitoring laboratory activities including preparation of test plans and reviews of test reports, handson laboratory activities as required Contributing to the dissemination of the results of the activities performed and the transfer of knowledge across the Agency. Requirements Applicants should have a university degree Masters in Electronics Engineering or Physics or equivalent Applicants should have 4 or more years of experience in EEE passive part engineering, preferably for space applications. By passive parts it is understood components such as capacitors, resistors, inductors, connectors, transformers, wires and cables, cable assemblies, fuses, switches, relays, piezoelectric devices and thermistors and also RF passive devices such as circulators and isolators, attenuators, loads, couplers and dividers. For our customer, DLR in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, we are seeking a Ground Segment Operations Engineer to support the Galileo Operations Project. Responsibilities The general activities are The Ground Operations Team is responsible for the overall management of Galileo GCS Operations at both GCCD and GCCI sites and the execution of GCS prime operations and GMS backup operations at GCCD, including activities related to encryption keys management. GMS backup operations is complemented with backup TSP and prime GRSP operations support. The scope of this work package is to fulfill the tasks of the Ground Operations engineer within the GSOp phase. This includes activities related to Ground Operations preparation, planning, executionsupport including oncall and shift duty or operations development as well as training. The scope of activities includes regular trips to GCCI and interface with other operations teams or DLR GfR customers. General experience with the design, analysis, qualification, testing and implementation of satellite payload equipment for telecommunication satellites, with substantial experience in one or more of the following management of development contracts for satellite payload equipment. design, development andor exploitation of antenna, digital or RF units, such as low noise amplifiers channel amplifiers and linearisers power amplifiers frequency converters digital signal processors A sound knowledge of multiple different types of payload equipment and their functions at payload level is desirable.
