Job description For our customer, the European Space Agency ESA, we are seeking an experienced Software Product Assurance Engineer to work at ESAs ESTEC site in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Responsibilities You will be assigned to the Software Product Assurance Section within the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management. You will provide support to ESA projects typically Space Science, Earth Observation, Satellite Navigation, Launcher, or Human Spaceflight projects and related technology developments in the areas of monitoring assessing the implementation of ESAs Software PA Safety Programme. This includes support to any or all of the following activities Contribute to establishing of the programmatic and technical software PA requirements within the framework of the ESA Software policy. Evaluate industrial Contractors plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed for the execution of the SW PA programme. Monitor and evaluate SW PA analyses, reports and technical notes. Participation to project reviews, meetings, Configuration Control Boards, NonConformance Review Boards and Software Review Boards. Prepare design tradeoffs, analyses and reports using metrics to support project decisions. Participate to software product evaluations and process assessments. Establish and maintain databases to track NCRs, RFWs, action items etc. as required. This is a fulltime position located at ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The requested start of work is October 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. Qualifications Competencies The successful candidate shall have Masters degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science. At least 4 years of relevant professional working experience with a background in software engineering and including several years in a ProductQuality Assurance role. Knowledge and proven experience in the following areas Configuration management of complex systems. Software engineering and PA in critical applications. Practical experience in applying formal SW standards such as ECSSEST40. Familiarity with space product assurance practices together with a good working knowledge of appropriate working tools would be useful. Relevant experience in the space sector and an understanding of space systems engineering concepts is a distinct advantage. Experience in one or more of the following specific areas would be considered as an asset for this position Agile practices e.g. Scrum Master Product Owner other Agile frameworks as SAFE, Lean or Kanban. Quality assurance for Machine Learning models. Big Data software architectures and lifecycles. Data quality assurance. Cybersecurity assurance, security evaluation and certification, ISO27001. Handson experience with static code analysis and tools. Alternative software development lifecycles, continuous integration and tools. Soft skills Ability to interface with internal and external actors management, technical, administrative etc.. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Good verbal and written communications primarily English. Rigor, commitment and reliability in the execution of the assigned tasks. Position Reference 081 You will be responsible for the establishment, maintenance and operation of security related processes and technical infrastructure general and security specific ICT, access control and intrusion detection systems, encryption devices and networks, etc. and the execution of administrative activities associated to it. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Physical Security Definition, set up, maintenance and operation of CCTV, access control and intrusion detection systems of DNAV directorate dedicated infrastructure for the management of classified and unclassified information. Coordination with ESA Security Office for accreditation and with ESA Corporate services Facility Management for implementation, maintenance and operations,. Coordination with counterparts in other security offices within ESA PRS Lab, ETS test facilities, ESOC for issues concerned with the DNAV Physical Security and logistics. Support the procurement of delta equipment, software and services in the domain of Physical Security. ICT Security Definition set up, maintenance and operation of the ICT security related matters of the DNAV directorate dedicated infrastructure for the management of classified and unclassified information, in close coordination with DNAV IT manager. This includes Definition, implementation and control of ICT infrastructure for classified information Galileo Secure Environment. Coordination with DNAV IT manager and ESA Corporate ICT services for delta securityrelated ICT services e.g. HD encryption, security threats and incidents, virus alerts handling, etc.. Coordination with counterparts in other security offices within ESA PRS Lab, ETS test facilities, EGNOS for issues concerning the DNAV ICT Security. Establishment, operation and maintenance of classified communication networks SINA in support of procurement and operational tasks. Support the procurement of delta equipment, software and services in the domain of ICT Security. Provide direct support to the Head of the Physical, ICT Personnel Security Unit in the management of the Galileo Secured Environment and supervise its day today operations. Provide direct technical advice to DNAV and Navigation Security Office Management to support decisions on ICT, Logistics, and Physical Security. Perform andor supervise the setup, securing, administration and maintenance of adhoc DNAV ICT infrastructure. Ensure that effective backup procedures are in place and carried out in accordance with the SECOPS of the specific system under his responsibility. Ensure that the emergency recovery procedures, as detailed in the SECOPS, are in place and exercised at regular intervals. Ensure that all personnel having access to a system have the required NeedToKnow and are appropriately security cleared, if necessary. Ensure that accounting, audit and other securityrelated records are maintained and examined in accordance with the SECOPS. Report any security breaches, vulnerabilities or anomalies to the responsible management, the ESACERT as appropriate, and take the necessary actions deriving from the incident response.
