Position Reference 572 You will have the opportunity to support to the ESTEC GNC Section for the development of space transportation GNC systems. This comprises, flight vehicles ranging from Expandable Launchers, Reusable Launch Vehicles RLVs as well as Ascenders and Landers for Exploration applications. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Specific tasks address the multi disciplinaryphysics and highfidelity EndtoEnd vehicle dynamics modelling with implementation in 6DoF simulation environments Matlab, Simulink, DSpace. Track record in the design of classical space transportation GNC systems including Thrust Vector ControlAttitude Control Systems. Mastering of advanced multivariable GNC design and verification approaches for the stability and performance robustness analysis is a prerequisite. Daily support and independent expert analyses to the development of ongoing and future ascender and descender systems including microlaunchers, reentry systems, reusable VTVL Systems in atmospheric and orbital flight on current ESA Simulation and Verification Platforms. Specific GNC design tasks shall include detailed flight mechanics, environment, aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, actuator and sensor system modelling. Perform system sizing, requirements capture, architecture conception, advanced GNC design as well as performance and SW validation analyses. Support to the conception of new Mission Vehicle and Flight Management MVMS Systems towards incremental Flight Autonomy. The MVMS architectures shall include Advanced Monitoring and Reconfiguration Systems FDIR as well as stateof the art Flight SW based on Robust Adaptable Control RealTime Optimised Guidance Strategies. New efficient validation Advanced Analysis Tools must be mastered to drastically improve the gaps and shortcomings of current validation approaches. Provide regular Technical Reporting of the GNC Design and Analysis as well as contribute in the preparation and execution of project and technology studies reviews. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have a Masters Degree in Control and Aerospace engineering You have proven experience in the design, tuning, analysis and simulation of GNC systems in different project phases. You have proven knowledge of modern control design methods, commercial modelbased design tools MATLAB. You have experience with rapidprototyping of hardwareintheloop systems. The functional support provided to ESA projects e.g. Exomars, Bepi Colombo, Proba3, ATV, Vega, IXV, includes Participation to project reviews SRR, PDR CDR, . GNC design, analyses and simulations control loops design and modelling, FDIR, Independent simulator setup, functional verification and performance budgets. GNC SW implementation. Sensors and actuators selection and procurement support. AIVAIT support test benches, review of test plans and test results. Operations support review of Operations Manual, rehearsal and LEOP. Support to inorbit analysis. Summary We are looking for System Engineers to support system engineering activities for Data Processing systems, MultiMission systems and Ground Segment level systems for existing and future missions. Responsibilities Duties The system engineering tasks will be performed in the Data Processing System and Application team at EUMETSAT, where you will work close to the EUMETSAT staff engineers in order to Support, review and check the Overall Ground Segement OGS activities by external contractors and suppliers including PDRs, CDRs and acceptance reviews and tests. Ground Stations System Engineer

Within the Ground Stations Competence Area CA of the System Engineering and Projects Division SEP, the Ground Stations System Engineer will provide ground station engineering support to the development of future satellite systems, in particular the EUMETSAT Meteosat Third Generation MTG and Polar System Second Generation EPSSG and JasonCSSentinel6, and to operations of the existing Meteosat Second Generation, the EUMETSAT Polar System and Jason3 systems. DUTIES In support to the development or upgrade of Ground Stations Lead the specification and requirements definition activities Contribute to procurement and followup the contractors development activities Followup the Assembly, Integration and Tests of new ground stations procured from industry, and lead on site acceptance testing Lead the definition, execution and evaluation of tests for upgrades or refurbishment of ground stations Define and validate with ground segment, system development and operations preparation teams an adequate transition plan from ground station acceptance to entry into operations, including contributions to relevant ground segment and system Integration Verification and Validation tests Lead the definition and control the implementation of integrated maintenance plans for ground stations Support the Ground Stations Competence Area Manager in defining long term plans and roadmaps to harmonise Ground Station engineering, maintenance and evolutions across all EUMETSAT satellite systems including associated processes. Candidates must be able to work effectively in English and have some knowledge of French. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Proven experience in ground stations engineering following well established system engineering processes covering the full development lifecycle, and relevant technical standards e.g. ECSS, CCSDS Competence and infield proven experience in the area of Ground Stations Assembly Integration and Test and integration of ground stations into ground segment and endtoend satellite systems Experience in ground stations maintenance Understanding and experience in the management of industrial contracts in the area of ground stations engineering or development will be considered an advantage Some experience in the management of teams and projects. Experience of communicating and teamworking, preferably in a matrix environment EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS The initial contract will be of 4 years duration, with subsequent 5year contracts being awarded thereafter, subject to individual performance and organisation requirements. There is no limit to the amount of followup contracts a staff member can receive up to the EUMETSAT retirement age of 63 and there are certainly opportunities to establish a long career perspective at EUMETSAT. This post is graded A2A4 on the EUMETSAT salary scales. The minimum basic salary for this post is EURO 5,612 per month net of internal tax which may be negotiable based on skills and experience. The salary scale provides for increments on the anniversary of taking up employment, and scales are reviewed by the EUMETSAT Council with effect from 1 January each year.
