By contrast, gross margins have dropped in India where they have reached extremely low levels by historical standards. The recent rally of crude oil prices and the fall of the renminbi are further supporting paraxylene, PTA and MEG prices whatever the seasonal slowdown in polyester production. Structural trends are very strong, including a shift from recycled to virgin fibers after a ban has been imposed by China on PET waste imports.
