Polyester prices have been firm in the last days in China, over a reduction of operating rates. PSF prices have been slightly lowered in India for the first time in the past 12 months. US$ prices are everywhere dropping, as a result of the fall of Asian currencies. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) on the domestic markets in China, India, and Pakistan. Paraxylene spot prices have surged in the last week, reflecting strong demand from PTA producers. Operating rates are remaining at a high level in the PTA and MEG industries in China, as demand for polyester stays very strong after cotton prices have risen in June. Average PTA prices have reached a six-month high over the past month.
