Polyester intermediate prices have sharply rebounded after national holidays in China, in line with the recovery of crude oil prices. PTA and MEG prices are no more expected to fall over the coming period whatever the weakness in demand from textile producers. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Eastern Asia and in India, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices. Polyester spun prices have rebounded in September in Pakistan, offering larger margins to spinners, whereas Indian competitors were experiencing a rather opposite situation. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms.
