Fiber cuts that disrupted phones accidental

Phone service was disrupted for over 12 hours across northeast Colorado Tuesday night as a result of two separate cuts to fiber optic cables. The unrelated incidents both were accidental cuts done by third-party contractors, according to Stephanie Meisse, a spokesperson for CenturyLink.

WestRock Company today announced that it has completed the acquisition of SP Fiber Holdings, Inc. , a producer of recycled containerboard, kraft and bag paper, and newsprint. Through this transaction, WestRock has acquired mills located in Dublin, Georgia, and Newberg, Oregon that produce lightweight recycled containerboard and kraft and bag paper for end use in consumer and corrugated packaging.

Polyester prices have sharply fallen in the last days in China, amid weakening textile activity ahead of October holidays. Prices have now reached historically low levels which have not been seen in the last 10 years. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) and Polyester Filament Yarn (PFY) prices on the domestic market, including a price comparison of polyester staple fibers with cotton and viscose. The gross margin of polyester spun yarn producers is also released.
