Requirements Master degree in Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent At least 5 years of working experience in the field of satellite communication, especially TTC subsystems, space communication receivers and system level link analysis. Knowledge of the Galileo system is an asset Experience with RF intersatellite links and relevant protocols is an asset Sound knowledge of CCSDS and ECSS standard and protocols involved Knowledge and experience with link security protection protocols at data and signal level SDLS or others Familiarity with modern computer systems and a handson experience with digital simulations tools like Matlab and programming languages like Python Experience in link design, budgeting and tradeoff, and preparation of industrial documentation Familiarity with project deadlines and ESA review process The candidate must own or be eligible for security clearance from national security administration

The Strategy and Innovation team integrates the overall ESA space exploration strategy, supports the preparation of future space exploration missions, implements actions aimed at integrating space exploration into the society and promoting global cooperation as well as develops and implements a comprehensive innovation plan for space exploration. The innovation plan aims in particular at commercializing services or products in support of utilisation of ISS and future research platforms in Low Earth Orbit as well as missions to Moon and Mars. Under the direct authority of the Lead of the Strategy and Innovation Team, the Innovation Manager is responsible for developing and managing assigned commercial partnerships and implementing actions aimed at promoting commercialisation of elements of the European Space Exploration Envelope Programme. The specific duties of the Innovation Manager include, for assigned commercial partnerships, During the commercial partnership development phase Supporting the implementation of the endtoend process for soliciting, maturing and evaluating the commercial partnership. Developing, in close liaison with the commercial partner and all relevant ESA internal organizational units, the project implementation plan for the commercial partnership governing activities conducted during the pilot phase. Coordinating the implementation of technical and programmatic reviews conducted during the pilot phase. Ensuring close coordination with all organizational units supporting the technical evaluation and maturation of the commercial partnership, consistent with the commercial partnership project implementation plan. Coordinating the socioeconomic impact assessment of the commercial partnership. Supporting the implementation of the ESA internal Integrated Project Review. Developing the review dossier for the Commercial Partnership Evaluation Panel. During the commercial partnership implementation phase Managing the overall implementation of the commercial partnership and coordinating and monitoring all ESA internal support provided and procurements initiated in support of the commercial partnerships. Identifying and assessing opportunities for advancing objectives of ESA programmes through the utilisation of commercial partner services for applications, science and research, technology demonstration and education. Coordinating the overall ESA utilisation of commercial services provided by selected commercial partnerships. Monitoring the implementation of the commercial partnership and developing inputs for annual status report to the PBHME. Acting as secretary of the commercial partnership governance board. Requirements Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, a scientific discipline and or business administration. Good knowledge of the European and international space exploration policies, plans and programmes. Demonstrated experience in structuring partnerships and track record of successfully implemented marketing campaigns. Outstanding skills in innovation and creativity, system and broader business thinking, communication, teamwork and relationship management and customer focus. Strong planning and organization skills and a demonstrated ability to achieve excellent results under time pressure. Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary and international teams. Ability to cope with pressure and deadlines. Excellent technical writing skills. Fluent in English knowledge of other member state language is an asset.

The Telecommunication TTC Systems and Techniques Section provides functional support to ESA projects and carries out technological research RD in the fields of telecommunication and TTC systems including secure telecommunication link aspects. Airbus GroupA vacancy for a Telecommunication SatellitesSpacecraft Thermal Product Manager has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage.The objective of the role is to manage and develop a set of thermal products that will enable the internal thermal control of a satellite or spacecraft to within 5C, while the external environment is driving temperatures between 150C and 150C. The technological approach is further challenged due to the lack of convection and limited conduction while the satellite is surrounded by deep space at a radiation sink temperature close to absolute zero. You will lead a team of thermal specialists to ensure coherence and continual development of advanced thermal products aligned with and in cooperation with other satellite systems specialists. Once developed you are accountable for continued successful application of the product within the projects environment through to inspace performance. You would join the satellite platform team at a time when Airbus Defence and Space is advancing a new geostationary satellite development programme together with various smaller spacecraft development programmes that are demanding new ways of approaching the problems of thermal control in space.The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs.Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Overall responsibility for the thermal development, justification and maintenance activities including design, strategy, product segmentation, evolution road maps, funding sources, alignment with satellite product objectives and evolving payload capability. Management and coordination of Product Strategy and Definition, Product Development and Improvements, Product Implementation within internal projects and external customers. Maintaining a good overviewnetwork of all relevant European SMEs to ensure active developments in support of the next generation of products. Actively access funding streams such as ARTES in support of development and platform activities. Monitor, support and sponsored applied research development programmes.This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Engineering degree or equivalent. Product or Project Management experience. Thermal Engineering experience with exposure to both Architectural and detailed Design aspects. Experience in Heat Pipes would be a benefit, but is not essential for the role. Good industrial awareness required in order to appropriately balance technical, cost and schedule aspects of product development and upgrades. Able to express thoughts clearly and exchange them with other architects and engineers.
