Position Reference 502 You will have the opportunity to provide engineering support to the Thermal Control Section at the European Space Agency. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Provide support to the Agency in the thermal engineering design, analysis and verification area related to the sections thermal control activities. Build geometrical and thermal models, perform relevant analyses, evaluate critically the results and issue relevant documentation covering all work performed. Support the maintenance and upgrading of thermal mathematical models. Support thermal verification test campaigns for ongoing ESA projects by performingreviewing test procedures, test predictions and test correlations and attend the tests if required. Support ESA project reviews. Support European standardization activities Make regular progress reports. Provide adequate documentation, covering all tasks above. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have a PhD or Msc Engineering from a recognised Institution of secondary studies University, Ecole suprieure, etc. or equivalent. You have at least 4 years of relevant work experience. You have a very good background and experience in thermal modelling and analysis as well as thermal spacecraft design and verification. You have a very good background and knowledge of spacecraft system aspects. You have a very good background and experience with the Agencys thermal analysis tools, e.g. ESATANTMS. Come and lead the verification engineering activities for our planned Meteosat Third Generation MTG satellites. The Role This is an outstanding opportunity to become involved in one of our most exciting and important future missions. In this role you will manage the Verification Engineering Team, leading and coordinating all the verification engineering activities for our next generation of satellites. You need to be a team player as you will work in close partnership with the Instrument Functional Chain Teams, the Operations Preparation team and the ground segment and system development teams. You will lead and coordinate the preparation of the system integration and verification plan, generating test specifications and ensuring that test tools and data are available and ready for use. You will assure the test processes are in line with the specifications and review test results with the relevant experts. Key to this role is maintaining control of the verification records. You will have substantial experience in system integration and verification of end to end Earth observation satellite systems, ideally with exposure to test preparation, execution and the use of simulators to generate test data. You need to be aware of industry standards, with the capacity to understand complex issues in a developmental environment. You will need to be able to communicate effectively. You can manage technical concepts and need to ensure that these are presented simply in formal documents and verbal presentations.
