Description of the job An exciting opportunity has arisen for a System Design Authority within Airbus Cyber Security in Newport, South Wales. Job Brief Technical Supervision Management of technical requirements Introduction of improvements where necessary to design solutions and processes Investigation of any design changes, and implementing them in a controlled manner. Technical Enforcement Ensuring that appropriate design methodologies and standards are selected and followed, that the design complies with applicable legislation including safety, applicable nationalinternational and local standards and good engineering practice, and that company processes are adhered to. Technical Direction Directing development of the technical design, instigating design reviews and approving key design decisions and design documents Tasks accountabilities The SDA has responsibility for the certification and authorisation of all aspects of requirements devolvement, design, design proving, manufacture, integration and testing. The SDA has responsibility for preparation, updating and custody of the systemarchitectural specifications, drawings and other data associated with the design. The SDA has responsibility for preparing appropriate certificate of design and its submission for acceptance. The SDA has responsibility for design compliance with applicable product liability issues in liaison with designated company authorities. The SDA has responsibility for ensuring effective engineering processes are utilised in the execution of the project. Using appropriate tools and techniques to design and develop equipment to AIRBUS DEFENCE SPACE standards and specification requirements. Involvement in the development of the engineering department functions and procedures. To be responsible for their own career development. To be responsible for their own time management with regard to project task milestones. Provide technical guidance in at least one major tool or technique used by AIRBUS DEFENCE SPACE. Able to use all disciplines required in designing the whole or part of a project as determined by project milestones and their team leader. Be aware of technologicalengineering developments and issues in industry and interact with the engineering management to continuously improve engineering. Use experience to support the design and development of critical components where decisions may have a significant impact on project timescales. This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Companys success, reputation and sustainable growth. Required skills Essential Experience Must be capable of solving complex problems requiring expertise in numerous technical fields. Must be capable of owning the technical understanding of an entire design in multiple technical disciplines. Must be an experienced engineer, with a successful track record of leading complex softwarehardware product development, integration and qualification Must have experience of systems design implementation for data communications products in commercial or military environments. Must have experience of embedded software development utilising bespoke hardware. Must be familiar with process driven softwarehardware development Must have experience of the full project lifecycle. Essential Skills Must be highly selfmotivated, articulate, with good verbal and written communications skills Must have an excellent understanding of work package definition, estimation and planning Must have excellent team leadership skills, with evidence of skills in negotiation and conflict resolution Desirable Skills Experience of cryptographic product development Experience of Requirements Management e.g. using DOORS. Experience with datavoice communications protocols e.g. networking, network management, VOIP Experience in developing embedded software for network devices. Experience of design for manufacture software test, productionisation of the hardware design Must have existing UK SC security clearance, or be capable of attaining UK SC clearance This role is based at Airbus Defence and Space offices, Newport, South Wales, with occasional requirements for business travel within the UK and abroad Many of our staff work flexibly in many different ways, including parttime. LSE Space is looking for an experienced Engineer mfd in order to fulfill the duty of EPSSG System Operations Development Engineer to work in Darmstadt Germany. For our activities at EUMETSAT, we are currently seeking to employ highly motivated and enthusiastic EPSSG System Operations Development Engineer to work in an exciting innovative international environment. The EUMETSAT Polar System Second Generation EPSSG will be based on a twosatellite configuration with respectively a launch readiness by 2021 for the first satellite and by 2022 for the second satellite. Recurrent satellites will be provided and launched in order to achieve a minimum of 21 years of operations. The activities will be in the field of system engineering to contribute to the definition and operation preparation of EPS second generation EPSSG. The primary responsibilities of this role will be The activities for this service will cover Operation Preparation tasks focusing on the development of EPSSG System Operations. The tasks and responsibilities will typically include the following Responsible for the definition of the overall Operations Validation Plan OVP. Implement and coordinate the OVP for the validation of the operational scenarios and support the SIM Officer during the simulation campaigns. Coordinate with IVV team to deliver as necessary validated operational scenarios for VV test cases. Be responsible for the definition of system operation documentation for both nominal and contingency operations System Ops Guides in close coordination with OPS department. Develop and validate the end to end System Operation Procedures and Timelines for routine and contingency operations in coordination with satellite and system operations engineers. Coordinate with OPS team leaders to ensure compliance with existing OPS workflows and processes as per Operations Management Plan OMP. In coordination with OPS teams, contribute to the Reference Operations Plan and ensure coherency with mission concepts. Ensure focal point of contact in OPIT for coordination with VV team. Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the key person shall have a demonstrated experience of at least five years in the field of Spacecraft Operations with specific experience as follows Specific RequirementsTechnical skills Good system knowledge of the main functional elements of a ground system which are used for the monitoring and control of a satellite. Spacecraft monitor and control operations on SCOS based system. Experience in definition, development and validation of operations for the development of satellite ground segment facilities such as monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, ground stations monitoring. Relevant experience on configuration management of operational systems. Demonstrated experience in a similar key role for the validation and readiness status of specific operation preparation phases such as SSVT, validation campaigns or rehearsals. Operation Procedures development life cycle and Operation Preparation environment and configuration management for operational systems. Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements and external operational interfaces management. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the key person to have experience with some of the following Inorbit System operations of Low Earth Orbit Earth Observation satellites. Specific Operational phases such as LEOP, SIOV, and Commissioning phases. Configuration management of operation baseline components on operational systems. System development life cycle, phases, reviews and deliverables. Soft skills The key person shall possess the following soft skills Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills and be confident to deal with a wide variety of people. Good interpersonal skills to coordinate with team leaders and key stakeholders as well as in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. Perform effectively under high workloads and be able to adapt to a rapidlychanging timecritical environment. Able to commit to the plan and deliver the expected results on time or to report proactively if any deviations are foreseen. Fluency in English the working language at EUMETSAT is English..
